In ss you can choose to use internal or external when your about to make a backup.

yeah, I did know that, I'm more interested in the way it's choosing the path name and in specific why it decided all of the sudden that it wanted to add a subdirectory called '0000000000' and then store the backups there. it looks like if the file does exist in the chosen spot, it won't show up under restore options either. I'm not sure what happened with my install, I was trying to make some backups of several rom slots and they started failing without displaying any error messages, it would just create 0 byte files. I rebooted a couple of times without success and finally checked the option to unmounts the external SD card and then I was able to back up successfully but it decided to change the location. After making a backup, I went back in and saw that the option to unmounts external SD card was no longer selected. I'm guess the app must have a config files or database somewhere.
