OK I'm currently running Batakang ROM on the 4.1.1 version. I'd like to update to 4.1.2...I realize I won't be able to continue to use the Batakang rom, but what I'm wondering is can I just boot into my stock slot from safestrap and use voodoo to temp unroot, take the 4.1.2 update, then restore root? Will this method keep root access for me? I've also seen the unlock bootloader is available now and theres the 1.20 utility as well.

Any help?? TIA

Voodoo will definitely do the trick.  Even if you lose root, there is a root method as well for 4.1.2, so no worries there either.  Time to step up and "unlock" the possibilities!

Thanks, so I can do it exactly like I said? Just go into SS and boot stock, take the 4.1.2 update (with the voodoo) and be fine? Should I unlock my bootloader BEFORE I do this, or can I do it after?

You'll want to disable and remove safestrap prior to taking the update, or the install will bork.  Be sure to disable it through the safestrap app, don't just uninstall it.

As for the bootloader, you can definitely do it after. You just need to have root established prior.

Will SS still work on the 4.1.2 update? Or will I even need it if I unlock the BL?

Also, I don't see the SS app in my drawer, but I'm still running Batakang, will I see that app in the stock slot?

Yes it will work on the update.

If you unlock the Bootloader, you don't have to have safestrap for roms designed for the unlocked device, just need a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM.

The Safestrap app will show in your stock OS once you boot into it.

Very true, I just have noticed significant improvement in battery life running Batakang vs stock. So I am just wondering what rom is best for battery on 4.1.2...what do you run?

I bounce around at the moment.  Development has taken off since the bootloader unlock so there are new ones popping up more frequently.  Currently I am back on stock ready to test the next thing.  I haven't found one that I say "that's the one" yet.  I do like testing them out though.

Cool. Is stock 4.1.2 pretty smooth? Good battery life?

Sorry for all the questions

Another quick question for you kaos, when you said to make sure to disable SS from the app not just uninstall. Do you mean disable it from inside the SS recovery?

Boot into stock and then open the app and disable it there.

OK...so I'm a freakin idiot...

I was busy backing up my call log & texts and moving some pics to ext sd card & then went into voodoo to temp unroot...then checked for updates & started the download of 4.1.2

Totally forgot to disable safestrap...no I can't open SS, force closes everytime I try. I went into apps & force stopped both SS and the updater but to no avail...

What do I do now?? Sorry...I had one job to do...

The easiest and cleanest thing to do from here is to go

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

and run the utility option 1.  It will do a complete clean wipe and install of the current 4.1.2 OS.

Thanks man...last question I swear (maybe), I'm guessing I still need to run this utility from the stock slot? Correct?
