Got the phone last year and put on a rom that seemed cool but wasn't quite finished it.  Its a cyanogen type spyder I think? it was last august anyway.. I was able to get used to some of the quirks and things were fine.

Recently Ive had a couple other issues creep up and not sure if it has anything to do with the ROM I decided I'd try a different ROM and see if I have the same issues, and if so it'll be time for a new phone. I went and found a ROM on the cyanogen site that was listed as "release candidate"

What I think I did wrong is this, I could be wrong though. I think the ROM I put on last year required gingerbread(?) and this newer one I attempted to flash is in need of Jellybean? not sure.. anyways my phone wouldn't start, just went black after the startup screen. I then held vol down and the power button until it restarted, then tried to restore the original droid ROM. now its stuck in a weird boot-loop. after the Motorola dual core thing the next screen is the green guy laying on his back with a red triangle above his chest. after a few min it will start over again. can't get back into revovery to change anything.

So, is it dead or somehow fixable???

Are you still way back on GB......? If so... none of the new ROMs will be compatible with your phone....

You should consider updating to JB :)

Whoa gingerbread? Haven't see that word in a long time. But anyway yeah, we are not on the right system or kernel version if the OP hasn't updated his device since Gingerbread (or ICS for that matter). So we've got a bit of a mess on our hands for an inexperienced user. My suggestion to the OP would to get into this sites chat room and see if some nice user would walk them through restoring their phone so they can at least get it booted up again. I don't even know where to start without know a whole lot more specifics about what he had on the phone before and what he tried to flash. What recovery he's using. We may need to dig up a very old version of the Razr utility or teach this guy how to use RSD lite. But still, we need to know which FXZ set to flash.

As Tucs said the chat room may be the easiest way to fix it, as we need more info, like what phone (I assume an xt912), carrier, etc.

As Hillbilly said Matts latest utility should work for you, it will wipe your phone and bring you up to JB and then root you so you can flash roms again.

Also, when you get the dead andy, you can press both vol buttons to get to recovery where you can try to do a wipe.

sorry for the lack of info, sometimes I forget some of you are from all over.  its the xt912 and im on Verizon.  Im not 100% sure on the gingerbread thing, just an assumption as I THINK the cyanogen used was 7 something.  I thought I had to "downgrade" a step when I got my phone so I could get the rom I wanted on it, but like I said being a year ago im not 100% sure of anything

I'll try some of your suggestions and see where I'm at and keep you all up to date.  thanks again for taking the time to explain this for me

Being a year ago.... and no further updated or mods..... pretty good chance you are still on GB...... or an early leak of ICS...... either way...... IMO your best bet will be to run the utility I linker to earlier and make the jump to JB :)

Glad you got it working, I saw you in the chatroom but was burnt by the time you came in, and since I saw others in there that could easily help you, I figured they would.
