Hey all, I'm Brad and I am new. Not just new to the site, but also new to rooting and really killing it with my droid. I figure I am less then a month away from upgrading to something new (if I want, Suggestions Welcome) so if I brick it I only need to use my old Black berry for a short time. I have been reading about rooting for about 5 or 6 months and I think its time to get started. I am looking for as much help as possible. I am looking for the best place to start, what to avoid and what I should absolutely not do.

What I have: Stock (my ford escape has more mods) droid bionic.

What I want: To be able to use this phone at its limits. (maybe somebody here can show me the right path)

I am assuming you are on the latest OTA - Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - if so, Start

Both links go to the same thread. I guess my first step is to get away from windows on my pc.
