So I'm running the ota jelly been 4.1.2 update 98.72.16.xt912. I rooted with Dan Rosenbergs RAZR blade utility. all went well but then installed the cwm touch black edition. Now ever time I reboot phone it goes to the encryption unsuccessful error. I've tried to use the RAZR utility xt912 jellybean by Mattlgoff it works and phone comes back on until I reboot then its back to the encryption unsuccessful error again. Can someone please help me get this fixed. Thanks

The only recovery that works on the RAZR XT912 is Safestrap by Hashcode0f. No other recovery is compatible. For hascode's latest safestrap for the RAZR you can get it

It's a nice TWRP based recovery. Has 4 ROM slots so you can have 4 different ROMs on 1 phone.

That said, you will need to reflash your stock recovery.

I think when he installs safestrap it should overwrite his current recovery. However, I could be wrong. So yes it's a safe bet to flash stock recovery first, thanks kaos!

You want it there in case you ever disable safestrap. Otherwise you'd be right back where you were ;)

Still not working the utility will get my phone back up and running but as soon as I turn it off and it reboots it goes right back to the encryption unsuccessful screen. I can't even get root back because when you run that from the utility it has to reboot the phone. Then once it does its right back to the encryption unsuccessful error

OK so Ive got a razr maxx that was running the official ota stock jelly bean rom. I rooted using Dan Rosenberg's utility and installed clokworkmod touch 5.8.4.5 black edition because from what I read it was compatible and working perfect on the Xt912. Know I know that its not. Problem is now everytime I reboot phone it goes to a error screen saying encryption unsuccessful. I've tried to do a factory reset and use Matt's utility but it still does the same thing after rebooting. I think the problem is that there are some files left over from cwm in a bmm folder but I can't seem to delete them I've tried astro and es file explorer but neither one will delete the files. Does anyone know how I can get these files deleted. I've erased and formated both internal and external storage but these files still remain.

First, you have two threads regarding this issue - please don't do that.

I will say I don't have any experience with this particular problem, but using trusty Google I would say you have one of two things, either your SD card is corrupt or your /data partition is. I would start by trying to boot without your SD in. Probably won't help, but give it a try. Second, if you know how to adb, see if you can mount your data partition.

Sorry about the double post. Booting with SD card out didn't work since the files that are causing the problem are on the devices internal SD card and for some reason can't delete them
