In my opinion if hicks didn't say a word about it. Someone else would have and there would still be people with bricked phones and hate mail going to someone else. Just like what was said before. If you don't want to brick your phone don't play with it.

Hey Hicks,
Don't leave us now. To hell with those sending hate mail. I don't mind to voice my opinion even if no one else agrees with me. I don't think the way some things are handled is the correct way, but it is the way it is.

You've done nothing wrong as far as i can tell.

Mistakes happen. If you thought you posted one thing and it ended up being something different the best you can hope for is to catch it and fix it as fast as possible. Not one single person could have known what this leak was going to do.

Stick around they will be mad at someone else in a few days.

If it's not broke try harder.
I tend to question things I disbelieve are true. Some people cannot handle that. Sorry if you are one of those people.

The problem is these people DID FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. The bigger problem is that the mods who posted these instructions took short cuts and through their negligence caused many many people to turn their phones into paper weights. This wasn't the flashers fault for following directions. These people ended up with bricks because they did, for once thoroughly read the OP.

Sent from my who really cares?? Using NOBODY DOES!

I beg to differ. I can't seem to find anywhere in either post any specific step to revert to .173. If the instructions were followed they would have had a functional build of ICS on their device, correct? So why revert, just to see if could be done?
How do you explain all the others who continued to flash this even after the issue was reported AND the posts were edited with new warnings? Whose instructions were they following then?

Spc, hate to see you go out like this. Times like this is a reminder of why we put "I am not responsible for what you do to your phone" things happen and I believe if you knew this would happen you wouldn't have posted.

I would like to keep in touch with you if you do end up going, never know what can happen.

Hey Specialist there is no need in leaving because a few turds are throwing some bad e-mails your way or because there are a few screwed up Razr's out there.
Nobody made them do anything they all done it on their own free will they did not take the time to ask questions or do the research before the started finger f***ing their phones it is on them not you nor anybody else.I hung out for a few days looking at more than just this community to see what was happening with the leak I am well aware of the fasboot issue and have not flashed it but I want to really bad and if I choose to and something breaks well it is purely MY FAULT and nobody else. Here is what you need to do get down in the front leaning rest knock out a few push ups stand back up and get your rear end back here Dont let the kids chase you off brother hell if I had messed up my phone then I would have an excuse to get the Maxx.

Hey man, don't leave over something like this. Some people just don't like to be reminded that the disclaimers are there for a reason & that there are risks involved. Stay frosty & keep going. We need devs like you.

Yeah, you SHOULD sell your RAZR!

And then buy a Maxx and continue supporting this community! Come on man, you can't pass up that awesome battery life.

Dude, toughen up solder! Your retreat is way too far! Just change your username to Col. Mustard and start from scratch. Everyone is under a factory warranty. So, there is no need to self destruct. Plus, whoever blindly takes what you say as fact and holds you to it is a moron. Clearly, you are just trying to help or thought you were. However, now that you are picking up you toys and leaving... Turning back would make it look like you had a tantrum, went to time out and are now back. So, just stay and no one is forcing you to stay or go... Chill Bro!

FYI There is no crying in development.

First let me apologize for being nothing more than a leecher on this site and a few others. I know I have nothing to contribute other than a few moments of time. That being said, anyone who jumps at the opportunity to run unofficial, experimental, beta, or otherwise untested software on their $600 phones have to be willing risk losing their device. If you can't accept responsibility for anything that goes wrong you have no business even rooting your device.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for the devs and admins, who not only spend their time, but also their money to make this site happen for the rest of us. It is a shame a few children, who probably needed a few more spankings growing up, can run off those who can and do provide so much for the rest of us.

spc_hicks, I can't say if I've ever used anything you've contributed or not, but thank you for all you have done and I sincerely hope you much happiness wherever you wind up. A passion such as this won't go long without being picked up again.

Dont cry over spilt milk. Yours or someone elses. The standard disclaimer was is and always will be there. No one is responsible for your device except yourself.
That (at your own risk, we are not responsible) disclaimer is soooooo overlooked and taken advantage of. The only thing that should come of all this, is that we should all read that one line of disclaimer a little more carefully.

Hicks,

Listen to us. (At least the ones who have your back and believe you did nothing wrong!)

I've been in the game long enough to know that no good decisions are made when emotions are high. Just wait it out. Things will blow over. We all take risks. It is easy to accept risk with no understanding of consequence. When the consequence is unforseen, people try to justify it with anything other that the risk that was always present. Example:

Bungee jumping. Let's say there's a 1/100 chance that the cord breaks. That does not mean you have to jump 100 times to experience one break. It just means that for large numbers, let's say 100,000, you will experience approximately 1000 breaks, which will be randomly distributed. If you jump once and it fails, it does not mean the risk is 1/1. It just means that you experienced the 1/100 outcome on your first iteration.
No one with self-respect blames you. At the expense of sounding beggy, please stay. At least wait some time to think it over. I'm not embarrassed to say that a lot of us would miss you. This an open community. We all help each other out. Every now and then we get at each others throats, but overall we still appreciate and respect one another.

Don't leave over this. People will use their insurance, pay $99 to keep playing, and get a new phone and forget about it in a week.

Just take my advice. Wait it out. It'll blow over. I can't make your decision for you, but I can try to help. Before you do anything, get in touch with me. I'll pm you my phone number if you need it.

tucstwo - People like you make people like me want to stop creating/sharing anything for this phone with this site. You should be the one to quit while you are ahead.

Hicks - Suck it up and stick around a while. No one is perfect. You did not force anyone to do anything, you just shared some information you found. It isn't like it physically harmed anyone. So there are a few that have phones that will require a little more work to get up and running, big deal. Rather than getting all sappy on us, spend a little time helping other devs figure out how to get those phones back to operational. As for the hate mail, welcome to life. Not everyone is always happy with what you do. Suck it up, and tell them to eff off.

Any person flashing anything on their own phone should understand there is ALWAYS a risk. No matter who says there is not. If you are unwilling to accept the negative possible consequence of that risk then leave it stock. Period.
If someone puts something up that unintentionally bricks your phone, so be it. No one is perfect. All of us Devs/Mods/Admins here are doing this stuff on our own time, for free as a hobby. That is something everyone needs to understand. I personally have not made/collected one dollar for any of my work. I don't want it, nor would I expect it.

So the next time someone feels like ragging on those of us who are giving you this stuff FOR FREE, out of the goodness of our hearts, just accept it and shut your yap.

+1... it'll blow over. Don't leave because a select few(or many, lol) are placing blame! There have been many leaks previously the ended up right where we're at now. No one forced anyone to do what they did! It is what it is man. For the ones that I know are going to read this.... if you are one of the people sending emails stating they hate you.. or wish you harm. Are you serious? Over a phone? I've seen you trying to be helpful in the forums. As often as you do it... you have to enjoy it! Don't let this hurdle take that away. Someone is always going to be upset. There's no way to get around it. There are going to be people that say "well you said it would be fine" completely disregarding the fact that ever mod, theme, or rom made available to the general public starts with a disclaimer. Should the OP forget to place one... someone from the forums or the forum mod are sure to remind you! Trust me I know ;-) ... that disclaimer is there for a reason... things go wrong!!!!! No body can for see every little hitch. This site, the mods of this sitrle, the admin, you, or the original person that found the leak can be held responsible! WE CHOSE to flash it! Let them blow off steam... that's going to happen. But in the end.... usually the one that are involved and reading this will be flashing again! Lol... hit me up on gtalk man... DM me through the forum if you need my GMail...

It is comments like this that end up in situations like people leaving. Yes you do it for free as a hobby. Yes you rely on others to enjoy your work. You give off the impression that because you are a dev that you are somehow better than everyone else. You are not. This is like a marriage. If you do not post leaks and make mods or roms then nobody will flash them. If nobody flashes stuff made by devs you can bet you will find a new hobby. Every marriage will have ups and downs. It is not the fights that are the problem it is how we choose to deal with the aftermath. I hope everyone learns a lesson here. Flashers do need to learn there are risk as well as devs need to understand that we choose to follow your work. Some of us do donate because we know you deserve it. After all your hobby fuels our hobby and our hobby fuels yours.

Sorry to rant some more but maybe if everyone understands that it cannot and will never be one sided no matter what then those like Hicks will not even think things as drastic as leaving.

Those sending hate mail are unworthy of the work the devs do, and should make their own public apology.

If it's not broke try harder.

I do not think I am better than anyone else. If it sounds that way, then my intention is not coming across correctly.
Also, I do not "rely on others to enjoy your work". I do what I do for me, then I post it up to share with others who cannot do it themselves.

I come here to sit back, relax, and forget about the stressful job I have.
As soon as it becomes not fun anymore then I will not contribute anymore. Simple as that.

I am not threatening anyone, or giving an ultimatum, just trying to explain how things are on the other side of the fence.
This forum has taught me to theme, and I am very grateful for that, let's all try to keep the peace and stop pointing fingers at people who volunteer to help make your phone better/faster/nicer.

I don't know why you're apologizing spc_hicks. The people I think should be doing so are arcanexvi and dirtydroidx, but all I see is hate out of dirty sayin its our own damn faults for flashing the leak. They say own up, I say practice what you preach. Just admit that you didn't test it.

Let's move on.... peacefully! And if you all haven't seen it. For the moto logo to black screen... there is a possible fix! Confirmed by 2 so far... I'll be attempting tonight. It at least gets you back to booting .84
