I'm going to verizon today to get a new RAZR. I managed to break my screen despite how bulletproof they claim it is supposed to be. Yet I admit it is pretty strong because I was actually showing it off to my buddies and slamming it against a concrete garage floor with a good amount of force (don't tell that to verizon lol). I have done things like this countless times so I have to say this phone has excellent build quality but just had enough with me abusing it.

Any way. Does anyone know if they will let me have a different color or maybe a maxx (even though I would consider turning a maxx down because it isn't as thin)?

Also will they give me just the phone or a hole new box with a charger and such?

I don't want to burst your bubble, but VZW usually won't replace something under warranty if there's physical damage, let alone let you upgrade. Unless you're the smoothest talker I've ever met.

I should be more specific: physical damage that they can blame on the user, like dropping it....or slamming it on the floor...
Something like a broken SIM/SD card cover or malfunctioning USB/HDMI/earphones I'd expect them to replace.
Also, from the one or two experiences with replacing under warranty they just give you a new phone, take the battery/SIM/SD out of the old and put it in the new.

If you bought insurance I don't think you'll have a problem though.

Doesn't matter any way. The guy at the store gave me a brochure and told me to call a number to get my replacement. Apparently verizon is using a 3rd party company called Asurion to hanlde their replacements over the phone and they said that I am on back order for 3-7 days.

The guy in the store clearly just didn't want to deal with me but I didn't care. It clearly says in the brochure (word for word) "Extended Warranty claims can be conveniently made in a Verizon Wireless store or over the phone by calling 1.866.406.5154." And this is what the guy circled on the brochure. Yet he said "We don't handle replacements in store, just call this number."

And I am a pretty good smooth talker. I remember one time that I had BRICKED my Droid X (bricked is CAPITALIZED lol). A guy on XDA came up with a good plan to put the phone under your back tire and back over it if you bricked it. He wasn't brave enough to go through with it but he claimed that it was covered by the terms of insurance. I did it and was able to get myself a brand new Droid X IN STORE with one of those new (new at the time) extended batteries. For no extra cost other than my deductable.

I'm biting my tongue haha. At least it's an insurance issue and not warranty. If it was warranty, manufacturers know there will be additional costs for repairs/replacements, so they tack that on to their cost, so we would've basically donated to his new phone.

The only thing I can think of that would be less intelligent than this would me to sell my RAZR Maxx to get a pos GNex ;)
