OK so I'm looking to modify my stock ROM to see what I can do. I found a few things about getting rid of the soft keys by replacing the framework apk with a modified one but so far nada. Anybody know of a list of modified apk's out there that explain what there intended to do?

IMO the best way is to pull the framework-res.apk from /system/app and "rip it apart" using apktool.... Then you can modify it to your liking :)

Or use Virtuous Ten Studios (google it). It's a great program with a great UI. There are quite a few guides which walk you through the modding process. Or if that's too time consuming, then there are plenty of mods that are already done on the internet, it's just a matter of find the right one for your device. If you can't find anything here, then I'd start looking over at XDA and reading there.

Great ideas thanks. Only problem its way too complicated for my pay rate. I originally got the idea from xda with a tutorial on how to do it only snag it said to find and download a modified apk. Gotta be a few out there I just have to stumble upon them.

Yep, finding them can be difficult! Just look for the threads that have [Mod] and that will generally lead you to a modified apk.
