Ok, yeah, I downloaded my soak zip that I didn't receive and opened it up. So far, it seems like it's labeled "Blur_Version.9.18.79.XT926.Verizon.en.US"...not 9.20.1. I could be wrong, as I'm not installing this thing, just picking apart the binaries. Which also happen to include a bootloader, a new bootloader selection menu, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd secondary bootloaders. Also a new rpm (power management) and modem. Along with the other bloat crap they've included. I would say until we are 1000% positive that this won't affect your unlock status to STAY THE HELL AWAY!

NOTE: If your bootloader is unlocked, or you're rooted, steer clear of this update until made available as a ROM by a developer. This update patches the root and bootloader unlock exploits.

Turns out to be a disappointing day for those who got their hopes up for Android 4.2 for the Droid Razr HD and Maxx HD, as the rumored update and soak test is version 9.20.1, and features only bug fixes.

The update includes SMS bug fixes, GPS enhancement, random reboot fixes and more. The update is also including a Google Security Patch.

The RAZR HD is receiving the following changes:
  • New versions of Backup Assistant, SMARTACTIONS
  • GPS has been enhanced for better reliability
  • Random power cycle (reboots) and resets have been mitigated
  • Data Metering now offers categorized data usage for more accurate reading
  • Connectivity when using Bluetooth has been improved
  • SMS from email notification will be displayed correctly when using Circle Widget app
  • SMS messages will be correctly displayed once they're read
  • Security has been improved and added to Google Security Patches
  • Support for VMware Horizon Mobile Switch Application has been added to provide a secure, separate environment for your business applications on the same device.
The update is 50MB in size.

It's not uncommon for the screen shots from VZW to have a different build # then what was pushed.

I dont mind sam. Even if I'm wrong, I'd prefer EVERYONE err on the side of caution for now. I'd rather be WRONG than be right and not warn people

How convenient it is now that VZW goes from released THIS FIRST OTA announcement:

droidrazrhd%20updated%20OTA%209201%20onl

To now THIS ONE?!

droidrazrhd%20updated%20OTA%20both.png

Note, in the latter, they've now listed BOTH updates having the EXACT SAME details? I wish they would just be honest, forthcoming and transparent with everyone so we all KNOW why this has happened and IF we should care about one version over another, rather than leaked, rumors.

I am a user that was previously locked and unrooted. Out of curiosity, I tried motochopper and the root process failed. This does prevent the motochopper root exploit from working after the ota update.

i need your collective instruction, this morning i pushed install later on 9.18.79.en.US update. last week, I installed Foxfi i have the old unlimited data.. I live in rural ME where we have overpriced fairpoint land line dsl after Verizon pulled out of the state. 2yrs ago i purchased the unlimited data plan and was sadly disappointed with less than G droid pro that did not cut the mustard for anything.  hoping to use as a tethering connection someday i have kept the unlimited plan using very little data.  now i have a droid razor max hd with 4g sent to me by Verizon after 3 droid pro failures and much complaining on my part. Things are just starting to work i am not a "power data" user but i need a fast reliable internet connection at work.

Will  update 9.18.79.en.US  cause a problem with my foxfi ?

thanks

dontknowY

I just got this notification on my Razr M which is rooted and unlocked and running on AT&T, I assume that this would not be a good idea to run so I chose update later. Is there a way I can keep this from showing up again?

Is this the update or a way to prevent it from allowing the update notice from appearing?

No, this is basically like what the factory would flash to make your device bone stock on the latest software.

Is there a way to prevent the update notice from appearing? I don't want the update.
