NOTE: If your bootloader is unlocked, or you're rooted, steer clear of this update until made available as a ROM by a developer. This update patches the root and bootloader unlock exploits.

In the case Motorola is following that. The Droid RAZR M also is receiving a maintenance update to version 98.16.3, and is only featuring bug fixes, and not Android 4.2 as previously hoped.

The RAZR M is receiving the following changes:

  • New versions of Backup Assistant, SMARTACTIONS
  • GPS has been enhanced for better reliability
  • Random power cycle (reboots) and resets have been mitigated
  • Support for VMware Horizon Mobile Switch Application has been added to provide a secure, separate environment for your business applications on the same device
  • Data Metering now offers categorized data usage for more accurate reading
  • Connectivity when using Bluetooth has been improved
  • SMS from email notification will be displayed correctly when using Circle Widget app
  • SMS messages will be correctly displayed once they're read
  • Security has been improved and added to Google Security Patches

The update is 50MB in size.

They've changed the PDF since this was posted, now states:

"Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a software update, SW version 98.16.3.XT907.Verizon.en.US and
98.18.78.XT907.Verizon.en.US, designed to improve the performance of your DROID RAZR M smartphone."

Interesting.

So two updates?

I'm not sure. Might be that some people are getting one update while others are getting the other update. Really confusing.

I have a question, if someone could help my I would be most thankful. Somehow, my Droid Rzr M downloaded the new update, and asked me if I wanted to install it. Of course I chose "Install Later", but the update is still downloaded and sitting there on my phone. I am afraid that if I don't somehow delete the downloaded update, that it will somehow eventually install anyways.

This happened before when 4.1.2 was released. I went to sleep and the next morning the update had downloaded and installed on its own. I am just worried that may happen again.

If anyone can help me out by telling me how to get rif of the download, and delete it, as well as keep it from auto-updating by itself in the future, that would be really cool.

I am sorry if I sound like a newb, but I am new to all of this, and dont want my bootloader to get relocked.

Thanks in advance
