You need to flash it in Moto recovery not TWRP

I took it many ways all the same result: E: error (about binary...) OR status 7. The result was it updated everything but the radio.
1) flashed the ota manually from twrp 2.6 ,voodoo engaged.
2) same no voodoo.
3) let downloader do it w/twrp 2.6
4) did 3 after a complete restore and reset with matts latest.

I also re downloaded many times.

Stumped.

Edit
Here is what works:

Matt says not to use his util for .78 but I did : twrp to stock, use Matts to restore recov, voodoo protect , voodoo unroot, check for UD..... voodoo , use Matts to restore twrp.

Sticky?

I was thrown off track by reports of success w/ non-stock recovery. I now doubt those reports.

Hardheaded.

Tried that too!! I left that out. Same result.  But when I did I could not root with the adb/ fastboot OR matts. Only was to gain root was rsd to 412.

oh weird but to restore root you just reflash a custom recovery. If your bootloader is unlocked

Seems that while an UL boot saves us-moto/vzw makes us rsd back to the last version?

There was no md5 in my cache when I pulled the ota out. I thought they always have one.

I wonder if some of us got a bad ota from one server?

Im rooted on 98.16.3 now with a locked boot loader.

Here is all the info:

KERNEL: 3.0.31-G101CA72

BUILD NUMBER: 9.8.1Q_78-1
