Ok let me start this off as Verizon sucks. I love my phone though and would love to take it to t-moble with me. I understand that it does have gsm antennas in it, its just a matter of getting them working. With an unlocked bootloader i should be able to flash any radios i want right? Has anyone even attempted this, succeded, or is it just a lost cause and should i just quit now?

Won't happen. Although you're able to use the phone with overseas carriers, the VZW HD will not work with US GSM carriers. As far as I know.

I read a while back that they had gotten GSM carriers to work on some devices by Motorola, I'm not sure if the Razr HD but if I can find the news story (it was posted on this site) I'd be glad to post it and see if it is what you're looking for.

I use my RAZR HD on T-Mobile. You have to fastboot  the radio.img from

(extract it like you would a normal zip file) and run a ROM compiled or made for the XT925. The catch is that the Razr HD is only intended to be used on a foreign GSM network and all the foreign networks use the 1900Mhz frequency, while the US GSM networks primarily use some other frequency. So you'll only be able to pick up data in areas where T-Mobile has refarmed their towers for 1900Mhz, as they are currently in the slow process of doing this. You'll always get EDGE from T-Mobile on the HD though.

P.S. I know I was kinda vague in how to get it working so if you want some more detailed instructions just say so.

This was discussed at length on XDA. There's no need to flash anything, you just edit some radio settings with RadioComm.

Here's the link:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. What country did I flash the radios from? When I was dinking around, before I came here and asked I found a firmware super thread for the xt925 but there wasn't one for the USA.

FOR 4.2.1 ROMS AND UP ON XT926 WITH GSM UNLOCKED For those of you on a verizon device and already used the radiocom gsm unlock hack or the latest hack found on XDA. If you're unlocked and rooted and have done like I have and gave Verizon the middle finger and used the radiocom unlock tool to open up the potential to use such networks as T-Mobile, Straight talk , ATT, Net10, or Sprint prepaid. You may have encountered the same problem I have and loaded some of these bad rear end ROMs these talented devs have built for us and our XT926 Verizon RAZR HD/HD MAXX. After getting tired of going back to 4.1.2 over and over due to lack of SMS/MMS and data on 4.2.2 I started diving into the build props and found a few to edit to obtain SMS/MMS and data. Do at your own risk, worked for me but I'm not responsible for your crack flashing, build prop editing, up all night modding your phone till your wife leaves your, rear end. With that said here ya go..... Edit build props to reflect this : ro.carrier= T-Mobile (or your carrier) ro.telephony.default_network = 9 telephony.rilV7NeedCDMALTEPhone = false That's it. Don't reboot between each line you edit just edit all three lines then reboot and profit. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2

This is the build prop edits after you've done the radiocom hack or the new hack found on xda I used radiocom due to the other not being out at the time. Worked great for me the first time, but follow precisely. These build prop edits are for those of you that don't get data on the 4.2.1 and up ROMs. Shouldn't have to do these on 4.1 ROMs. I used ROMTOOLBOX PRO to the edits directly on NY xt926.

He used the command line and ran the fastboot command just like he posted. Boot the phone into fastboot mode and then type the command as the member stated.

there is also a moto-fastboot executable so if the fastboot command doesnt work try that.

modem_signed is the modem file that you want to flash

I tried this method and I get no signal now not n tmobile or verizon. DOes this work with 4.3 roms? Also can you confirm which modem_signed file I am supposed to use for tmobile. I have xt926 from verizon

EDIT: Got it

Is there anyway to get 4g speeds on the xt926 with tmobile? I get edge and calls text and everything else works fine. but edge is brutally slow. I want to test tmobiles 4g speed in my area before making the switch from verizon official

Will this break a custom ROM? I am using CM11 on my XT926.

Verizon says my phone is already unlocked. They say all of their 4g phones are unlocked, however when I tried to boot it with a t-mobile SIM card it could not find the t-mobile network.
