I just want to give a brief shout out to all our service men and women on this Memorial Day. To those and their families that have made the ultimate sacrifice, thank you for serving and protecting this great country.

Thank you for serving our country!!! It is important that we do not forget these soldiers. For without them, we would not be free. Once again, I thank you!!!

I also would like to give a shout out as well. Thank you for putting your lives on the line for all of us and to protect our rights and our freedom, and to those who are no longer able to do so.

I would like to thank everyone who served or who is currently serving or who is planning to. We are so lucky to have such great servicemen and women in our country. You guys are awesome!

If you are currently serving and reading this, please remember you are not forgotten. We are thankful for you and very proud to have you serving our country.
Know you are appreciated.

Can't thank you enough, truly.

Thank you to everyone showing there gratitude for this day and our men and women serving as well as their families. Thanks to my fellow brothers and sisters that I serve with for everything you do. We branches or service may not always see eye to eye and give each other crap, but in the end we always have each others back. To all that have lost someone, my heart felt sympathy goes out to you and your family. While they are gone, they will never be forgotten.

Thanks to Veterans for all they do. I'm proud of my father for the service he's done for our country.
Thanks even more to those who died fighting for our freedom.

What a country that a bunch of techies - old and young - should remember with such sincerity. I am an old guy that spent 22 years under arms in a time when old or young didn't offer much in the way of thanks.

So I also say thanks to our service men and women, past and present. And just as much to the techies that have been so thankful.

In 1970, I didn't feel much love.

I'm sorry, but I didn't notice before that the title is "Happy Memorial Day". To be honest, I find that extremely offensive because it is not a day to be happy about. It is a reminder to 99% of the country that doesn't even realize the sacrifices being made that good soldiers lose their lives in service. I can think of a few friends that would probably punch anyone in the face that told them "Happy Memorial Day", because to them it is just another day like every other, where they will not for a second forget their comrades. If anything, wish everyone a solemn or humble Memorial Day in which they will hopefully remember for at least part of that day to thank those that serve our liberties and keep us safe, even more so remembering those that we can never be in the living presence of again, rather than just being excited that they have the day off work and that they are going to barbecue.

I didn't notice that either and yes it IS somewhat offensive to say "Happy" Memorial Day. Regardless though, it wasn't the OP intentions to be offensive so it doesn't offend me. It was an honest mistake I'm sure.

No offense taken - the spirit of all posters' comments were far from offensive for the most part. Way too much punching in the face already and after 22 years service spread over the 70s and 80s I can tell you what offensive looks like.

So not necessarily Happy Memorial Day, but happy about the respect shown for past and present service members.
