I just bought an XT907:

-Android 4.1.2

-System version 98.16.3.XT907.Verizon.en.US

Tried using motochopper to root it but to no avail. I followed this "guide"

I enabled usb debugging, downloaded the latest drivers on my windows 8 PC, downloaded the motochopper.zip, extracted the whole contents, plugged my phone in, ran the .bat as administrator and it just stops after 3 lines. Based on that thread it sounds like the latest update wont work with motochopper but its wierd that the batch doesnt even recognize my phone. It just says waiting for device, and something about starting daemon and then stops. The same thing happens when i run the batch without my phone plugged in. Is this because im running windows 8? or is it because im on system version 98.16.3? or am i just being dumb and doing something wrong? Any help is much appreciated.

The update will block root and unlocking the boot loader period. If you updated and maintained root that is great but if you lose it you cannot get it back by simply applying motochopper. It won't work. It was discovered that you can fxz back one step with a modified script , root with motochopper, protect with voodoo then take the update and restore root. The modified XML doesn't flash the tz partition nor erase data.

I have a batch that SamuriHL wrote that I adapted for the M that I will upload in the morning once I've tested it.

I am totally new to rooting... i rooted one phone previously and it was an app i installed that automated the process. So I really have no idea what any of that means. I'll be on the look out for your batch. Thanks to you and all the devs that make this possible!
