Questions about bootloader

Then a quick Google search told me that its been patched.
Is there anyway to currently unlock the boot loader?
Or if not what system version would it have to arrive with for me to be able to unlock it?
I am worried i will end up worse off than with razr as that device is really starting to flourish development-wise
Please someone tell me what the deal is

There is no way to unlock the current update. Pretty much guaranteed you will get an updated phone. I believe .18 and .20 are updated version. I think .16 was before the update

So far, most of the warranty phones I've seen has come with the recent update unfortunately. You may get lucky though. Just keep a watchful eye on it when you boot it. The updates are automatic of sorts and will start when you least expect it.

Well thanks for the replies even though they aren't at all what I wanted to hear. And let me guess... there is next to no development for the locked devices?
If someone would maybe throw a short list together of ROMs I could actually run I would really really appreciate it

Be careful when you plug it into the PC. Someone said the update can start to install

Looks like I misread the version. Yes, unlock it asap. You only need to be rooted. And no, plugging it in won't trigger an update.
