Just bought a new RAZR M for my daughter, and she doesn't want to unlock her BL. (Don't ask - it's a girl thing.)

Is there any way to use the custom ROMs like Illusion or Beanstalk with Safe Strap? Or will there be any new dev with these folks in mind?

Newer ROMs aren't built for SS , we are going to have a section for locked M's soon but I wouldn't expect much new development for them. If you can unlock I'd suggest doing so.

I realize newer ROMs currently aren't built for SS. However, as there will now be a whole new audience who won't have the option to unlock their phones, the question becomes valid again. Or are you saying that the community is going to leave them behind? That doesn't seem right.

Ultimately its up to the developers it really depends on if they want to make ROMs and develope on a locked down system again. But I doubt many of them will because they have tons of other projects going on.. If you can unlock the boot loader do it

I flashed dead rage now dead calm with SS even though an unlocked boot loader was rec. Only problem doing that is it saves the ROM to internal storage but I suppose you could move the ROM to sdcard 1 with a file manager freeing the space back up. I ended up unlocking but its not for everybody my wife won't even root her's .

yes deadcalm would work, its based on stock moto 4.1.2 :) so as long as your on 4.1.2 kernel for stock moto it will work :)

You could scroll down quite a bit on the ROMs thread and find some of the older unsupported ROMs that were used on ss
