as far as the "old" stuff on sdcard0 (internal)  you can(should) backup then format the internal storage whenever you run the utility to wipe the entire phone....... any "leftover" files on internal storage will have a direct impact on current installations ...... if you are not clear on how to backup and format internal storage you can follow the directions

Not sure why I didn't think of that. I'm wondering if just doing this and only having SS on the internal would do the trick without having to use Matt's utility again? I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try would it?

there may be "hidden" and or unseen files still sitting on the internal storage wiping the internal should completely take care of them :)

Ok, so I transfered my internal storage and formatted it and just to be safe I reinstalled SS from the .apk from the ext sdcard.  I then rebooted, entered Recovery, Created Slot 1, then wiped System, Cache, Dalvik Cache, and Factory reset, in that order.  Try to flash Rage to Slot 1, E: unable to open the .zip file so I tried Blurry, same error so on to Aviator, same.  I was beginning to think that it was something that I was doing wrong.  I now think that it is something that someone much smarter than myself is going to have to figure out how to do it.  I know that it can't be impossible or can it?  I just want to get away from the Stock ROM so please keep the help coming...

How are you getting the zip onto the sdcard? When you stated earlier that you validate the md5, are you doing that on your PC?

If the answers are from the pc via a USB cable, and you check the md5 on the pc prior to transfer, I have to guess that something is wrong in the transfer.

I would try to d/l the zip directly on the phone.

I am running out of suggestions..... :)

I'm downloading it directly to the phone then transferring it to the ext-sdcard. I am validating after transfer.

Yep. I have installed it from download and Matt's utility. I did try to install once but that was with files on the Internal Storage. The way it looks it won't make a difference. This can't be the only phone that can't be flashed.

It automatically activates it. I double checked.

I'm sorry as well.... I'm out of suggestions, I think we've tried everything that I know of....... :( last option is to curse it repeatedly and threaten to trade it in for an iPhone .......

Ok, question. Have you been trying the same rom every time? Which ones have you tried? Also, I saw early on you said something about a twrp backup? Twrp is not possible on the xt912. I know I am late to the party here but something doesn't add up.

IPhone? Never! I tell my wife that Iphones are made for dumb people. (She has one) When I did the backup in SS the file it created was a twrp file.
