are you rooted? You can run any command you can think of, but I wouldn't recommend screwing around with it too much unless you REALLY know what you're doing... can mess things up pretty quick

Grab a linux distro, load it up in a virtual machine, and go crazy.
If you really want to dive in, grab an Arch linux iso and follow their beginners wiki page. You'll then know what a terminal emulator is for
