I have the extended battery, and as owners of the extended battery know, it's a pain to find a decent case. I cut the rubber part of my Commuter case to allow the battery space to fit with the actual back of the phone left off. I've been using my commuter case with the extended battery for about a year with absolutely no problems this way. I busted the Commuter case today and long story short, Otterbox is sending me a replacement, but it's the Defender series. Has anyone found a workaround to use the extended battery with the Defender case? I can't find any images to see if I can cut the back out like my current case, so I was just curious.

I have read (but not tried it myself, tbh) that the Otterbox Defender case will fit the Bionic with the extended battery if you first remove the phone's back case portion.  While it may work, not sure if this option is acceptable, as I can see people being leery of exposing the innards of the phone that way, even inside of a Defender...

That's what I'm doing now with my commuter, have been for a long while now, so I'll give it a shot. I hadn't seen the design of a defender, so I wasn't sure if I could make it work.

I have modified my otterbox defender to fit the OEM extended battery. Its worked well for the past year and 1/2. Used a dremel to cut the otterbox hard case and left out the extended battery back cover off. With the rubber sleeve that comes with the otterbox it keeps it snug tight. Debris free even in my pocket. The sleeve will keep it snug. Ill post pic if you want. Theres another post somewhere, where I got the idea.

Ditto to bbucks. Even if is a little flimsy afterwards the soft case then holds it all together. I dropped it a few times without issue afterwards. I took the plastic out of the front too
