Manual format system in TWRP 2.6.0.0

Maxx HD

I format data every time I flash a new ROM.  It cleans out all the bugs.  This will only format internal and won't touch the external SD.  However, if you choose to do this, you will lose any backups/pics/media that you have saved on internal.  Make sure you move stuff to the external that you want to keep.  I've seen a lot of quirky things solved by reflashing and formatting data.

I Have Maxx HD unlocked rooted and I want to try a Rom that says along with wipe must also manual format system. My question is if I have backups /pics/ music etc  on SD card should I take card out before format? Format data says wipes ALL backups pic  video media and encryption on INTERNAL storage.  Kinda makes me nervous. Will I lose TWRP?  If take out card with all my stuff then reinsert after format will I be able to return phone back to previous state if do not like Rom ? Sorry if this is stupid but I  have never done reformat before. If there is a guide to this I could not find it .  Thanks for assistance

Im no expert but I think what they mean is instead of the automatic wipe do it Manually by hitting the advanced button. Thats the way I did it when I flashed it. Some of the devs like to do stuff tbe old fashioned manual way like in CWM recovery.

Yeah your right if you keep flashing roms and clear data and still come up with the same quirks on different roms then its a good idea. I have done it but its a pain in the rear end if you dont have to.
