I used to have the Droid Razr Maxx. Now I have the Droid Maxx, the new one released from Verizon on August 20 2013. It's brand new.

I used to get probably like 14 or so hours on my 2 year old Droid Razr Maxx. And now on my new Droid Maxx I get less than 10 consistently.

I use the phone a lot, certainly average to high usage, but I still feel like this phone should be performing much much better in the battery category.

Currently I've been using my phone for 3 hours and 58 minutes and I'm down to 59% battery.

I haven't been able to put my phone through much to post relevant screen shots but I found another discussion on droidforums that may help you as far as what others are getting out of their battery's.

http://www.droidforu...ad.php?t=252242

Hope this helps out.

Just bought it not 40 mins ago(2:16PM Aug 31) Did my work around and I still have my unlimited plan. ** Maniacal laugh!**

How exactly? Did you transfer upgrade to a line that already was on a limited plan, buy phone, then switch sims?

I'm in the same boat and really don't wanna lose my unlimited data.

So I purchased the new droid maxx and my gf got the HTC One. I've been comparing them all day and so far the HTC One has the MAXX beat:(. Quadrant tests were great, but beat by the One. Same with 3D Mark(although not as badly).
The battery on the Droid MAXX is not as great as I thought. I mean, its great and all, but the HTC One nearly has it beat.
Having them both off the charger with similar settings, after 8 hours, both are at 60%. I just figured my MAXX would do better than that. The screen difference is noticable as well. The Htc One seems brighter. Although the MAXX seemed more saturated. Lastly is the camera. That 5mp camera on the HTC One packs a punch. It has my MAXX Beat easily. I do love the gesture for accessing the camera. Its just poor picture quality.

After all said and done, IMA Motorola fan through and through. And it pains me to say that the HTC One is the better choice. Plus it can be rooted(did not try)...I do hate the interface though. HTC Sense should be abolished.

-Nope. Much more difficult than that. Seeing as if the DROID ULTRA doesn't have a sim card slot, but a preinstalled it was a snag.

My instruction booklet says, the volume buttons can be pulled out like a tray, which gives you access to the Sim card.

Isn't the ultra dual core? The one is quad. Plus benchmarks suck. The gs4 actually is coded to overclock the GPU while a benchmark is running. How's that for duping the market. My SO has the tmo HTC one and I'm horrified at the UI but the Google edition of the one would work for me. That being said the Google s4 is only $50 more and that's my to choice. I kinda hope there is a Google edition of the note3.

Yea the Droid MAXX is dual core with the modified Moto processor. It does a great job with no lag so far. I don't really count the s4 in comparison cuz I know 5 people that have them and they have terrible battery life. Pictures are phenomenal though. And I really hate the HTC one interface, I'm sure Google play edition is better. Note 3 should be good as well, I've not heard much negative bout note II.

Just make sure your brightness adjustment if on auto, or how ever you like it. I found mine disabled by default, and set to high. It kills the battery. >_>

Holy crap... I didn't even notice that.

Well played moto, well played.

But it's a nano sim. So all ya'll need to trim and file down if you want it to fit!

I have had the Droid MAXX for about a week now, coming from the HD MAXX and Razr MAXX. This phone continues the great battery life tradition and adds a responsiveness I have never seen on any phone before. I would recommend this to anyone.

Does anyone know if/when the lastest gen droids will get root? I used to be able to use power toggles widget to bypass hotspot verification, but it doesn't seem to work on my Maxx... has anyone got a hot spot fix?

I updated the wifi tether thread with a working method.

I would like to retract any statements I have made in the past that "Motorola dropped the ball" on these phones. I fell into the trap of looking purely at the specs and not knowing how the phone the phone actually functions. The lack of 1080p at this screen size is insignificant.  I've played HD videos on my Droid Maxx and my S4 (which I am now selling, btw) and there is no discernable difference.  The dual core processor is amazingly fast (quads of ~8800) and man is this phone smooth, no lag at all and, as expected, the 3400mah battery is just hard to kill. I still miss my removeable SD card but with 32gig internal storage I guess I can live without it. Add to the fact that we now have root and, likely, some form of custom recovery coming, I couldn't be happier.

I am coming from my rooted Bionic of the last 2 years and the rollercoaster ride during its evolution, all the way to jelly bean.

My contract is up and was expecting to keep my Bionic until a Moto Nexus but upon finding that JCase found a root exploit, I picked up my Maxx last Friday and was rooted a few hours later. I have barely set the phone down in 5 days and only charged it 3 times so I can now say, Sweet Phone!

Very pleased with my purchase and decision to stick by Motorola. Looking forward to see what options the awesome Devs make available to us for this new Droid line!

Had a xt912 for 2 years and a bionic before that. Motorola smartphones are in my opinion the best. I played with the Samsung's, a Htc, a LG, THE iphone 5c & S , and they are all nice. However. We all use our phones several times a day. In fact there is little we always take with us, but our phone is always by our side. It is like our best friend , a tool we cant live without; it speaks about our personality. Why settle if you don't have to. I really loved my RAZR, my contract was I up months ago with Verizon, but I couldn't make my mind up. Even today there isn't many phones that are better and those are amazing pieces of technology. I did my RAZR in and got it wet. I t took me 3 weeks before I could let go and I ordered my 1080m. I love it, but it is a little hard to grip , it slides in my hands. It has an amazing screen, the battery lasts very long. I am glad I got the Maxx . No HDMI or memory card slot which I used often on my last phone. Its only been a few days, but so far happy. Right now there is a $50 discount at Costco online. $249 free shipping and accessories. Also Verizon has Mobil hot spot integrated in many new plans. I got the share everything which he unlimited talk and text with a 4 gig data plan with Mobil hot spot included that's $130 a month for myself and wife after taxes so no need for hot spot Apps and worrying Verizon will find out and force me to buy one which I know they have done.my 2 cents is if you already like your plan and don't qualify for a upgrade and already own a RAZR then you might regret spending hundreds for one of these, but if you get a upgrade and like the plan I mentioned defiantly get this phone, you won't regret it.

The touchless controls are lacking honestly... if you want to call someone, you still have to touch "speaker", which I'm assuming you'd want to use if you're calling via voice commands.

Go into the touchless controls menu under settings and hit "auto speakerphone." Should set speakerphone as the default for touchless control

One spec that seems to be missed here which is critical for me is the phone's call quality and connectivity. I live out in the country a bit and Motorola radios kick rear end. My wife has a Samsung and he phone consistently drops calls. Motorola simply kills the competition here. So if you need a solid phone signal then the choice is pretty simple.
