I installed safestrap and cleared me phone. Now to turn it on, I have to press vol down and power button for 10sec. I get past motorola dual core screen to the safestrap menu where it says thing thing about 10 seconds or press menu key blah blah. If I press search key to continue screen just turns black. If I press menu icon shows up with little hat and arrow. Thats it.. nothing else will work. Im REALLY freaking out here and need my phone. PLEASE HELP ME! Thanks!!!!!!!! its the XT12 with 2.3.6

I have soft bricked before. Only way I fixed it was using rsd lite and spf 744. Have you tried that yet? That would be the first step I would do.

You need a rom to flash
thats all you need
if you go back to safeboot menu and toggle you should boot into stock

Cant say I do...I thought I did all the research needed but I see not...I thought fastboot was holding all 3 buttons then momentarily releasing then depressing power button. Tried this a few times and nothing happened. just went to moto logo then safestrap again.

In the Safestrap menu. Does it say "safe system enabled" (or something to that effect)?

With safe system enabled, have you flashed anything on it? When you enable safe system, it essentially partitions your phone so to speak. So when you try to boot up after enabling safe system, if there's no OS, you'll just get a black screen.

I flashed a ics rom to the phone( I think) and thats why I wanted to reboot was to use that. But i never actually got to the point of using it i was on the stock rooted rom when this happened. BTW I thank everyone for there help so far:)

The three buttons pressed together is the phone's reset procedure. Also the FastBoot menu times out if you don't have it connected to your PC. I think that's a power saving feature since you can't charge your phone when you are in a recovery screen. It does seem like if you disable Safe Strap you will boot normally.
