Get "phone info" from the market, and it'll bring up a section where you can change it (under "Phone Information" -- after you actually run the phone info app). Scoll down where it says LTE/CDMA/EvDo (or in your case, whatever it may say - I changed mine from global to LTE/CDMA in the regular phone settings. Scroll through the options and there is one for CDMA auto I believe, that should get you to 3G only. I don't have my phone right next to me, so I'm doing most of this by memory.

You can also type in *#*#4636#*#* in the phone dialer and it will take you to a testing page were you can change it.

And what really sucks is you can set it to 3G and then if you reboot the phone it defaults back to the 4G setting.

I'm sure there is some way we can see about getting a build.prop edit or use Script Manager to set it on boot.

I don't usually reboot my phone so I didn't realize it did that until you mentioned it. Thanks

Thanks for posting this. Someone had told me about doing this but I couldn't remember exactly how to do it.
