Chumboy, that technique was listed as Method #4. The risks with that method are outlined in that section.

Also, you could not have tried all the methods I had listed. If so, the factory cable would have worked. The jumper cable does work as well. These methods always work, provided you do them correctly.

Thanks for the post. I made a factory cable and problem solved. Easy and worked great. Thanks.

Thanks for posting this. I tried a couple of them to no avail. I dont have soder gun. I remember watching my dad do that stuff when I was a kid. I ordered a factory adapter from TBH. So we'll see. I went tonight and reactivated an old school blackberry that was last used in early 2011.

I got tripped up trying to unbrick that part went smooth then the battery got to low trying to reflash JB in recovery. I can start the process in recovery but it wont complete. So I wait.

My question is & it might be stupid. Do I just leave the phone off till the adapter gets here or should I plug in and keep it at the M boot screen? I didnt know if it would matter if it ran all the way down or if keeping it plugged into the wall was kinda holding its battery level but not charging. I have just turned it off and am gonna wait. I dont know where TBH is but I got it shipped priority, so it should be here in 3-5 days.

I think you're best off to just leave it off although it doesn't really matter with the factory cable. However, there's nothing to gain from leaving it on either. Also, in case you aren't aware, the factory cable won't charge your phone. It just supplies power so that you can fastboot the phone which gets the charging software back on. Once you're done flashing, you'll more than likely have to charge the phone for a while before you'll be able to boot it without the factory cable plugged in.

Just wanted to mention I went with the Team Black Hat factory adapter for $10. Waited a couple days to arrive and plugged that sexy lil red piece in and she worked like a champ. I know their cables are out of stock but the adapter worked good for me.

Yeah, I need to update the thread to include the adapter instead. I think it just bridges the two pins together just like the home made factory cable would. And like robocuff said, with the Factory Cable, the battery level doesn't matter as it pulls directly from the USB port for power. But since it bypasses the battery, it also won't charge a phone. Interesting and frustrating fact. Charging always requires that software to work.

Thanks for posting this Major. I researched all the options and I went with the adapter. I think I might be able to make a cable just might take a couple tries. My girl is still under warranty so I really didnt want to pull the back off just in case I did physical damage to her. I had to reactivate an old blackberry for a couple days till it came in but other than that it was painless. So glad I have that adapter now just in case I get effed like that again and I really appreciate you consolidating a lot of info into one spot.

This is great info man. Thanks for this.

I am moving this to the How-to section and pinning it for future reference and help to others with battery issues

I updated the information about the Team Black Hat products. I included details about the adapter, and removed the discouraging information about TBH being out of stock on everything. It still appears that the factory cable itself is out of stock at TBH, but the adapter is still good to go according to the site.

Also, thank you everyone that has sent in likes and messages in PM. However, if you find a certain method working that came from another site, please go to those sites and thank the posters there! Also many kudos to the guys that tirelessly work in the chat room. This guide would not have happened if I didn't have the support from the awesome community here when I had these battery problems myself!

Yeah, I don't think this is on topic for the Low Battery issue.
