The disadvantage to BMM is its not supported anymore and very few people here use it. Otherwise, they accomplish the same thing.

I may as well switch to safe strap. How wold I go about doing that, and would it result in a wipe of everything I have installed?

Well lets see, since I dont know BMM, I would say backup everything then revert back to your Stock ROM, disable/uninstall BMM and then install SS.
Not sure if a backup will across the two so you may end up starting from scratch

Well then I would say that yes you are starting over, and can use Matts utility to get back

Just switched to from BMM to safe strap. It was easy. Had both BMM, and SS installed on my stock ROM, CM10.2. Opened the BMM app, and selected uninstall recovery. Then opened SS and selected install recovery. Done. Explored SS and it has a nicer interface. Then backed up my Stock ROM (CM10.2). The one thing off the rip I liked about BMM, was the 3sec time out prior to booting the ROM, vs the 10sec time out of SS. Anyway to modify the time out duration? Also with SS, is it possible to install a ROM to the stock slot? I wold assume so. Guess I'll find out on the next 10.2 nightly. Sent from my DROID RAZR/JB CM 10.2 via Tapatalk II
No and that's the beauty of safestrap. You don't touch the system side, you got 4 rom slots to play with....you can modify the system side but have a nandroid. Safestrap is basically bootstrap with safety!

My phone only seems to have 3GB for the system, and another 8GB for the internal card for apps, media, misc. I don't want to fill it up to much. Just moved my music to the external SD, as well as deleted a number of old backups. I don't want to run into a situation where I am low on internal space. That's one reason I like flashing in the stock ROM slot. I'm doing a lot of learning here.
I have a 64GB SD card so I have plenty of room there for music, videos ect.

And yes, I would use the external (sdcard) for all your media etc.....

Ahh crap, I uninstalled Safe Strap, to test one last thing in BMM, and as I was installing BMM, it failed and froze : Now I can't get the phone to start, and to make matters worse, my laptop is awaiting a motherboard and I'm working off a stupid Apple laptop I had to borrow.

Thanks. Bookmarked the link. One more question. Since switching to SS, every time I reboot the phone, it runs through the "optimizing apps' thing, like I just wiped the cache/data. Will it do this every time? Or is there a setting I've missed? It really slows the startup time. Sent from my DROID RAZR/JB CM 10.2 via Tapatalk II
this should only happen when the cache/dalvik are wiped.
