Those of you who get frustrated and want to flash back to a 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 backup rom but can't, you don't need to SBF, but I'm sorry to say that you may need to FORMAT DATA from recovery.

YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR INTERNAL MEMORY THIS WAY, but it will save you all of the time of having to SBF and re-root.

Hope this helps some of you.

Finally found a way to make 4.3 roms work on my phone, here's what I did, starting from a bootlooping 4.3 rom.

Restored stock 4.1.2 using Matt's utility

Rooted with Matt's utility

Put 4.3 rom and GAPPS on external SD

Fastboot flash CWM 6.0.3.5 (or install via Matt's utility if you like)

Wipe data/factory reset

Wipe Cache/Dalvik

Go to mounts/storage and format /data and /data/media (/sdcard) **Back up anything in your internal SD you want to keep before doing this!**

Flash 4.3 rom (I used PAC nightly 9/26)

Wipe Cache/dalvik

Flash GAPPS

Wipe Cache/dalvik

Boot up and setup rom

Reboot

The 2nd boot went very fast for me.  I think the key lies in formatting /data and /data/media through the CWM mounts and storage menu (or /sdcard on other recoveries) before you install the rom.

Hope this helps!

OK so I struggled with this over the last few days and I just solved my problem. The afore mentioned method wasn't working for me. I followed the instructions to the T with a couple different ROMs to no avail. Finally I tried restoring with Matt's utility and then installing and setting up CM 10.1 (4.2) followed by a factory reset and installation of slimbean 4.3. Not sure if it had an effect but I wiped all app cache with titanium backup before my first restart.
