Thinking about buying this phone or the Note 3, care to explain which one is the best? I'm just looking for the best camera, fastest, and funnest to play with when it comes to flashing and enjoying many ROM's.

There is not a root method for the droid max yet. And I'm not sure if there will be. Even then, it will have locked boot loader. Its a really great phone and is near stock android. I haven't played with the noteIII but I'm sure the specs are better. But this Phonr seems lag free and gives all-day battery life(day and a half with low-moderate usage).

Why don't you think there will ever be a root method for it?? And does the Note 3 have a locked boot loader?

Chances of root happening are close to zero because there are very few people with that ability and they have given up on moto devices :(  as for the note 3 it all depends on carrier. If your on Verizon or att it will be locked most likely

I wouldn't count on it by any means..... Just because there is a bounty doesn't mean it will happen.

Yeah..I saw that earlier. Leave it to moto for leaving the same hole open and making me eat my words.

The XT1080 in the photo is the Ultra (brought to my attention by another), but yeah, they should all be the same

There we go.  There are several photos flying around now, so it is apparent that it is the lineup

My Droid Maxx is waiting for me right now, just got delivered today.  I am happy a root exploit is likely.  If we get Safestrap and a custom ROM or two I'd be happy. For my requirements an unlocked bootloader is unnecessary (fortunately)

I've had my Maxx for about two weeks now and love it... coming from a Razr Maxx. Never tried the Razr Maxx HD though... as someone said earlier, smooth, fast, and battery life has definitely improved from my Razr Maxx which I was pretty happy with already!
