So im new to the forum and recently switched to a Razr MAXX from a Galaxy Nexus due to the fact that I need a phone that will not be dead 4 hours away from an outlet. That being said, I loved the Nexus and everything it had to offer... Including ICS :). Ive rooted many Samsung devices and install a ton of different roms kernels and radios but this is my first Moto. I have to say, Im pretty impressed! As far as rooting the device, I already have but things seem to work a little different than Im used to. For instance CWM has to accessed every time I boot (no big deal) Also, nothing seems to be simply flashable?? Anyway, I guess a good starting point would be to walk myself through the process of installing an ics rom in hopes I pick a little bit up along the way... Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!!!

I see you've taken your first lesson in locked bootloaders. It's a great device either way though so enjoy!

Any precautions unlocking the bootloader aside from the normal "you break it, its your fault" type thing? Also what is the best way to go about it?? Ive seen a few forums with tools to do so but they all have known bugs, from a couple months ago, with no change logs...

I too am looking for a guide to take us from 6.12.181 to ICS,and then back for when the OTA drops and we can then root that? Im currently running Safestrap and Eclipse, and it is very nice, But I as well had a Galaxy Nexus and LOVED stock ICS and really want it on my MAXX.. WOuld make it the perfect phone just about.

Yea unfortunately there is a program to unlock the bootloader but it only works on one of the cores.. Atleast thats the way I understood it.

It still doesn't unlock it, just bypasses it further to flash custom kernels...

And it's only for GSM RAZRs.
