Trying to backup and restore but it doesn't seem to work for me (aka I messed it up again)

I'm using Safe Strap so I could have .79 on unsafe nad 211 on safe (Think I have that the right way)

Here is my back up sequence

Safe Strap Recovery v2.00
Safe System is Enabled

Back Up and Restore> Back up >External SD
Include Webtop: Yes
Include Primary in back up: No (Have tried yes as well)

Get an error at Backing up osh...
Error while making a back up image of /osh!

OP Note: A back up file exists

Here is my restore sequence

Safe Strap Recovery v2.00
Safe System is Enabled

Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik
Format System
(I could probably use Matt's one wipe here I guess)

Back Up and Restore> Restore >External SD
Include Webtop: Yes

checking MD5Sums
MD5 Mismatch

I'm sure this is a simple thing to and I'm just missing it, so I would appreciate some assistance.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Just a thought, but why backup webtop? Seems that's where your problem is and seeing that you're on ICS, the /osh partition is currently just wasted space, if it's even there. Webtop has been discontinued in ICS in favor of the ICS tablet UI. This could change. You never know what Moto might do for the final release, if you notice in the ICS leaks there is no grfs.img (webtop).

If there's no webtop then why does my ICS .209 have webtop V 3.0.0 installed? It says it's there when I look @ phone info in system settings.

There is still technically a webtop mode. It's just not what was there in Gingerbread. It's basically still just ICS, but the UI is set to tablet mode. So the old webtop partition is not needed.

I'll try no webtop next time and report back. Just a thought but I think the fact that it errors on osh it isn't finalizing the back up and creating the MD5 causing it to not restore.

Just a guess though maybe someone can confirm or deny my theory.

Thanks for the past and continued assistance.

Pretty sure the reason it errors on osh is because it's not there and I'm assuming the backup script doesn't know what to do and the restore option doesn't have an MD5 to verify to. Thus failure.Just a guess though.

Agree completely. Are you using safestrap for back up? have you had the same issue?

No, not using Safestrap at the moment. Have used it previously on the leaks, but never included webtop in the backup. I did look at my root folder structure and can verify that there is no /osh folder there.

Edit: Curiosity got the better of me and I installed SS. I did a backup of the non-safe system with webtop included, and got no errors. Of course I cannot try a restore of it in non-safe, so I don't know what might happen there. I know your errors were in the safe system. Just thought I'd let you know.

Thanks for the assistance! If I remove webtop no osh error md5 sum generated and I'm able to restore.
