Hello,

I am working on a phone for my girlfriend, her phone was updated to the latest updates, I was trying to re-flash the firmware onto the phone however matt's utility did not work. I downloaded the SBF file as well and tried flashing it using RSD Lite to no avail. RSD Lite came up with an error saying "The phone failed to switch to fastboot mode"

If anyone could provide a link to the latest firmware, or a method to flash the system back onto the phone that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You must have the updated drivers and the phone should be booted into fastboot before running RSD. Also be sure to not be in a usb 3 port.

I do not have a USB 3.0 on my laptop. I tried it in different ports and it still was unable to flash. I receive an unknown boot command

I do not have a USB 3.0 on my laptop. I could try it through the E-Sata

Don't believe e-sata will work....
Here are the latest usb drivers if you need them

You can't just open the xml. Right click and select edit.

Have you tried Matt's utility instead if RSDlite.... sometimes you will have better luck with it....

She did in fact take the OTA, I was trying to flash her to any working version, her phone lasted a solid 3 hours so I wanted to flash stock. I tried the firmware the firmware team had posted. She turned to the dark side and is using an iPhone now . I wanted to try to sell the old one Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk 2

So after trying several times, on two different machines, turns out it can boot into recovery. I downloaded the firmware you had suggested but it seems as if the phone is denying the files. Is there a way to use fastboot commands to manually do it?

It just so happens that I've added xt926 support to my House of Moto.  I'd suggest installing the House of Moto with xt926 support and your FXZ that you've got there and use fastboot [snapdragon] mode to flash it.  Make sure you're in AP fastboot mode and connected to usb with the oem usb cable before you start.

(Noob Alert) The FXZ meaning the entire package? Which folder should i place it under?

This is a point that many get wrong so please follow this carefully...

o) Install the House of Moto to c:\HouseOfMoto

o) Install HouseOfMoto-xt926 into c:\HouseOfMoto

o) Inside the c:\HouseOfMoto directory, create an FXZ_9.8.79_xt926 folder

Here's the part where people get it wrong.  When you open your VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-79-1_CFC.xml.zip file, you will see a directory inside it.  You must go INTO the directory inside the zip.  There you will see a whole bunch of files.  Select them all, and extract them into the FXZ_9.8.79_xt926 folder you just created.  All the files must be at the root of the FXZ_9.8.79_xt926 folder, NOT in a sub folder within it.  If you have this:

c:\HouseOfMoto\FXZ_9.8.79_xt926\VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-79-1_CFC.xml\boot.img

It's wrong.  If instead you have this:

c:\HouseOfMoto\FXZ_9.8.79_xt926\boot.img

It's correct.

When you run the HouseOfMoto.bat the first time it'll ask you for your phone.  Enter xt926.  Then when it asks for flash mode, select option 2 for FASTBOOT [SNAPDRAGON].  Then you're good to go.
