First things first, we all know how nice it is to be able to use our 4G speed to allow others internet access. You can download a third party app that may or may not work, or you can download SQLite Editor, I think it is $2 but well worth it. Make sure you are Rooted. Run the program and allow root, then click on Settings Storage, then Settings.db, then settings. Scroll down to line 79 and press and hold on the value number 1 until it pops up with a menu. Select Edit Field and change the 1 to a 0, select save, reboot your phone. Then select menu, settings, tethering & mobile hotspot, select mobile hotspot, click on ok...change your settings to how you want them, and VOILA! You have free wifi hotspot.

When you started SQLite Editor, did SU ask for permission?

Yep, I granted SU permissions. Would it matter if I have WIFI Tether installed? I tried that first and It didn't work. I can uninstall that and try again.

I just went through it and had no problem. There are some differences from gingerbread. instead of line 150 it is line 79. Make sure that you start with settings storage, then settings ( the one with the hammer and wrench, it should say Motorola under it.) then click on settings.DB, then settings, and then make the edit on line 79.

My bad, I didn't see the other "settings storage" in SQ Lite, I found the correct place to edit, except there is no 79. I have a 78 restriction lock, then it goes to 84

I don't think it should matter, but I would uninstall all tether programs. and make sure you haven't accepted the terms and are not already paying Verizon for hotspot.

Here, just watch this video. It'll help a little.

Also, to those confused there's more then 1 settings storage. The one you want to click is "com.motorola.android.providers.settings". Then Settings.db, then Settings. Then scroll down to "Entitlement Check" (Not USB_entitlement_check). Long press "entitlement_check" and select "edit record". Then change the 1 to a 0. Then reboot. It'll work

I couldn't get Foxfi to work. It's nice for the stock app to just work without having to install stuff too.

I agree, I like having the stock app, rather than a third party. I have used foxfi on gb, not on ICS though.

Frankly, I'm amazed they haven't patched this because this loophole has been relatively common knowledge since I've had this phone (last november). I would think VZW doesn't like not being able to charge us twice to use mobile data.

I thought they would have fixed it with ICS...maybe they thought they did by moving to line 79, lol.

I would like a screen shot of Bmplekan's screen again, only down around line 150 or so.
