Really want to know, if I am running one of the ICS leaks will I still get the OTA? Dumb question I know but I don't feel like going back to GB for a few days while I wait for the OTA.

If you are on one of the ics leaks, you can't get the ota automatically. You have 2 options:

1) go back to gb and wait for ota

2) upgrade to the 211 leak now bc that is what the ota will be

Can you point me in the right direction as far as upgrading to that leak?

I ran the utility and followed step 1 and it said everything was OK. Rebooted into recovery mode. I had an icon on the screen of an Android on its side with an ! in a triangle. I was starting to think I bricked it, but a few minutes later it booted. After going through all the initial stuff, I checked the OS. It still says 2.3.6, so I must have messed up somewhere.

Matt,
I had used your download link, but I think that it is wrong. It doesn't download 6.16.211. It downloads 6.12.181.
What am I not doing right? I did install the version on the download link at

It SHOULD say .181. Says the ROM you're coming from, not going to. This is the number one misconception on here lol.

It does say .181. So, I have no idea why when I did the restore, that it reloaded in GB instead of ICS. Makes no sense to me. I followed the direction exactly.

Notice the part that says "named as 6.12.181 on the zip file because that is how Motorola names it".

Is it possible that you have previously downloaded other leaks and copied the wrong one to the sdcard? All of the ICS leaks have the same name. Did you verify the md5sum?

Nope. This is my first time doing anything with the Maxx. Its clean. I've only loaded a couple apps on it. it's not rooted or anything like that. thanks for the help.

It sound like you restored to .181 but forgot the steps of going into recovery and loading ICS update from SD card

Motorola confirmed, a select few (soak) will get the update first, then the rollout to the masses.

Where did they confirm this? I was beginning to think that Motorola was skipping it lol.

assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/bin/logwrapper". "[a bunch of letters and numbers]", "[a bunch of letters and numbers")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(status 7)

idk what's wrong. I am rooted, but am on stock .181 (I did install safestrap, but never did anything with it)

This is me being lazy but can I just drop the zip on my sd card and boot into stock recovery and load, I am really having a hard time with windows 8 and being able to run Matt's utility.
