Hi I am coming from a xt912 - OG razr. so i kinda get roms and what not.

But i have not kept up with the HD.

I would like to know if their is a  utility that will root my phone.

and if the 4.3 roms are stable. I was running the latest 4.2.2 liquid smooth rom on the OG

now about this update. the first thing it told me to do was to update it and i declined. Am i still running the software I need in order to *UNLOCK* the bootloader?

build number

9.8.1q-62_vqw_mr-4

date:

friday april 5th?

. All you need to do is follow the directions, it's really simple.  Nothing related to 4.3 is officially stable to my knowledge, but most 4.3 ROMs are running extremely well for most.  If you're looking for something pretty solid on 4.2, Slimbean and Carbon have pretty solid stable releases for this device :).  Though, everyone's idea of stable seems to differ a bit.  4.3 is damn close in my opinion-very few bugs left and none of them major imo.  If I'm not mistaken, it's 9.18 and 9.20 that no longer allow the bootloader to be unlocked.  I don't remember the build date as I haven't been on stock for quite some months.  If you find that you can't unlock the bootloader, there's a couple of solid stock variant ROMs to choose from.  But if you're not on 9.18 or 9.20, you should be good.  You can definitely still root though!  Good luck, welcome to the HD and if I can help with anything, just lemme know.  The devs and community for this device are truly awesome.

Thanks for this info.

I went ahead and rooted my phone with the moto chop file. then I download the moto acop. and unlocked my bootloader.

I then installed the newest version of twrp. and installed Eclipse 4.3

everything was fine until I turned off the phone this afternoon in order to charge it. now when it boots it stays stuck on the " unlocked bootloader screen"

The only thing i can see or have seen mentioned was something about having "mount"  when installing the rom

I know for a reason I did not do this, is this what caused it to do that?

if not what did. and what can I do. i was already falling for this phone.

I dont use Eclipse but most of the ROMs you dont have to mount anything anymore.

Try to go into Wipe - Advanced - and select Dalvik and cache and then try to reboot. if that doesnt work, I guess I would ask what version of TWRP, you may need the latest which is 2.6

A lot of 4.3 ROMs have been sticking like this.  I had one do it the other day and I just hard rebooted it, hold pwr button and both vol buttons until it powers off, then let go and it will reboot.  For me, this got it to boot, but it won't hurt to what CMH suggested, either.

I am running 2.6

i believe,

GREAT NEWS

I left my phone on the charger before I was going to try to flash the  back up file. or even just reflashing eclipse.

Then after about 20 mins i see my phone is booted in android!!!

now I am happy i didnt have to do anything, but how can i prevent this from happening?

I dont want my phone to take 30 mins to boot. lol

RIkrong-

I did do that hard reboot but it would go back to the bootloader screen.

Just my two cents buddy-I have stayed on twrp 2.5 and haven't encountered any problems yet.  I've been on three or four 4.3's and one thing I've noticed is that the second reboot consistently takes a while.  Like, an uncomfortable while (up to 8 minutes once).  It does always boot for me eventually though :) like I said 4.3 is pretty good to go, but I think it's fair to say it's still a little beta feeling sometimes.  As far as mounting, it really isn't necessary unless the op of the ROM says to in the instructions.  Nothing 4.2+ will require it from my understanding, typically just stock based firmware ie, the 4.1.2 ROMs because they need a stock or very close to stock kernel (I think that's why).  I would personally try twrp 2.5 if this continues being an issue or perhaps stick with some of the 4.2's for a while.  I'm glad you got it rooted and unlocked!  If it get stuck again, I would do as the other 2 gentlemen suggested.  Though it's annoying, I have not heard of anyone getting/remaining soft-bricked from a 4.3. As long as you can get to fastboot, you have that utility to fall back on.  It's a real life saver, props to Matt
