I've already decided months ago that I am not playing this game, but this happens to be nothing but a sick attempt to raise interest in something that is said to be SOLD OUT already. I mean really, how can a US built device that has not been flying off the shelves, with these Dev Editions that are selling at Full retail costs at $649 not be fully stocked and on the shelves right now? I don't know who decided to play this joke, but I don't think it is very funny, build the darn devices and sell' em!

Note this Moto X is sold with an Unlockable Bootloader as mentioned in the advertisement!

I agree, I also bet every time you go to Motorola's website, its probably going to always show "Sold Out" since its dealing with Verizon.

Punit said they underestimated the initial demand on the developer editions in a G+ post.

An unlockable bootloader on latest series of moto devices and dev community interest is stronger than normal? SMH! Seriously, I doubt they planned on much interest and while you folks aren't likely to change the market I think making them ramp up production on developer devices is pretty freaking cool. Kudos MX DEV purchasers! Sent from my XT875 using Tapatalk 4

Just noticed something that I thought looked a little out of the ordinary... If you look at the time displayed on the Moto X from the link above it reads "September 25th 11:35PM" which seems odd considering I posted this yesterday the 24th and not to mention but the device was sold out, well before it was (timely) available. If you look at the Droid Maxx no surprises there September 5th it has always been available, I wonder if that also could mean that it was available forsale at that time too. Either way I still think these poor ways to play games with consumers by dangling Developer Edition devices in front of us.  :(

I think the X will have a bigger Dev community because its on all carriers not just VZW like the MAXX. Plus with Hashcode and DHacker getting or already having them helping also.

I am hoping someone has a minute to answer a question about the bootloader issue. W

Previous post was inadvertently put up before I had finished it, here's the question, on the Moto bootloader unlock site, the mention devices eligible to unlock and the moto x is of course listed. But they don't specify that the dev edition is what they are refering to (as with other models) I would not assume that the retail version is part of the unlock program, but just wondered why they didn't specify the dev edition

Because there are several regions with the X, some of which do not require a DEV edition.  X models include XT1053, XT1055, XT1056, XT1058, XT1060 (which is the USA VZW edition)

Thanks for your reply, and even though I'm not really a dev, I do root and like to install custom roms. As far as the various models, would Moto be the place to shop, since vzw doesn.t let one pick a model variant. (just playing catch up) Also been noticing discussion about root on the X, I guess I would settle for root capability over unlocking the bootloader, but just wondering which variants are unlockable and where to get one (rather shop Gplay or Moto as opposed to vxw) Thanks again for your help

I did some further reading on related posts, I think I'm up to speed on the questions I had . . . thanks kaos . . btw I have been part of the bionic owner community for the previous periods of turmoil and had been looking forward to more freedom in future phone experiences, looks like dropping some serious coin is the only way to 'be set free'  lol  thanks again to you and the entire dev and razr mod community
