Why install bootstrap? Safestrap is the only supported recovery.

oh ok didn't know that. maybe thats why it wasnt working ha. so just install it the same way?

Yep, install the app, open the app and install the recovery.

just tried it again and nothing. when i push enter it doesnt do anything. no app installed

Are you rebooting after you install the app?

Ok this is just a general question, I have already rooted using the utility 1.7 and I was on the Soak test no issues and actually this post really isnt for me I am just trying to prove a point to someone else. Has anybody recieved the Official OTA not the leak or soak (yes I know they are the same) and rooted the OTA using the utility?

I've tried this, but adding ;C:\Windows\System32 doesn't work. So I tried the modded211 unstuck and the link you posted doesn't exist. Any help?

• If still these did not fix you and you can open previous utilities like 1.6, just run option 1 in 1.6, then option 3 in my modded 211 unstuck to install ICS recovery.

• After you use function 3 in the modded211 unstuck, reboot into Motorola Recovery (how is listed below), and wipe cache (suggested data too). Then install the 211 update from your external storage. Enjoy.

I was wondering if you could tell me what i was doing wrong.

I used utility 1.4 to get me back to stock 2.3.5 (or 2.3.6, sorry don't remember). I had to do this because i had a rooted phone,and was unable to update to ICS. After going back to stock, i did 2 OTA updates to get me to 4.0.4 ICS. At this point i am looking to re-root. I downloaded Utility 1.7,i have re-downloaded the motorola drivers, and wiped the cache on my phone. However, everytime i try to root my phone (using option 3), i get "waiting for device". I have tried using different USB ports, and re-booting, but haven't had any success. Any ideas?

Cool - ok, thanks. Now I can't get Motorola Recovery to start. I can get AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)... device is locked, status code 0. Then nothing. Any suggestions how to proceed? I think I'm in a bit of a pickle...

[update] Ok - 2 hours later... I had to run and re-run 1.6 about 3 times in order to get my phone back to android recovery. finally got my ICS back on my phone. Would be nice to follow up with how to get 1.7 to work again, though.

I couldn't get it to load. I've tried the solutions that Matt posted originally, but they still didn't work. :-(
