So I refuse to move out of my unlimited plan so I am keeping this Maxx alive a little bit longer.

I recently had some major issues with PacMan Rom holding data (missed my school calling to say nobody got my kids and got the voicemail and text 4 hours later at work).

So I blew up my phone, went back to stock.  Rerooted now using Matt's JB utility.

I either want toggles / tether / circlemod clock / performance boosts on the rooted stock side, or a completely safe for data connection on the safestrap side.

I think I need an 'odex' version to tweak some of these things on the stock tho.

I've been through like 10 ROMs or more, DroidTheory's Axiom line,  the Galaxy Note Roms, Cyanogenmod, Pacman most recently.... but nothing has truly worked 100% with the little bit of things I want.

So what does a man do?

Go back to Roms which potentially have issues to gain the 'cool stuff', or can you do it to the stock side as well somehow?

Please advise and thanks in advance-

Maybe try a stock rom?  Or flash things on your stock side to your liking.

+1 There are some great stock based ROMs on this forum. You can count on reliability, fully functioning Data signal/WiFi, and some cool features and themes ;) from such builds. Take your pick, but all the devs work very hard to provide fun, stable, and fast ROMs.

@arsenic1234

Xposed framework allows customization of stock. I use on my stock side. I like centered clock, changing colors, battery/wifi/data mods and more. I can post a link if interested.

Thanks

I'm in a similar situation (but with a non-maxx razr with a screen that's cracked to hell lol) and finally got fed up with my phone and decided to wipe it and all that jazz.   Have you tried any of Team Rage's ROMs? Those are the two I have on my phone right now, and both are working pretty well...haven't decided which one I like more yet.

BloodRage is based on OTA .16 and Spider Eclipse is AOKP. Both have worked well...stable...good battery life. Running BloodRage right now overclocked to 1325, running stability tests, using 4G, etc. since about 5:30 and phone is still at 44% (been trying to run it down). Don't have more practical battery life information at this point, but I'll share that when I have it.

I'm using Safestrap 3.60 right now...managed to install both without issues but I don't think either one of the ROMs technically supports it at this point. I believe they both have threads on this site as well but not sure how up-to-date they are.

Feel free to send me a PM...again, sounds like our situations are similar (except I already lost my unlimited data--just waiting for my upgrade discount) and I've spent the last 2 days fiddling around with ROMs and what not, so if I can be of any assistance, I'm happy to help.

There was a Verizon system glitch last weekend that allow users online to order a new phone through upgrades and keep their unlimited data. It was mentioned on all the Android sites over the weekend. Verizon came out Monday and said they would honor those purchases but had fixed the glitch.

So how do I filter which are 'stock roms' vs safestrap / bootstrap roms?
I kinda just want a performance boost if possible, I already did wifi tether check, and toggles.

The rest is just appearance fixed which my launcher does.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

You will need Safestrap to install any ROM, regardless if it's OTA, AOKP, or CM9/10 base. Check out this thread:
