Hi all,

This post is about how to force your Razr to shut down and STAY shut down to avoid having the battery drain.
This is very important because sometimes people cannot get past the Motorola M after doing something (like updating), and they need to go do something else, so they leave the Razr on since it keeps rebooting. This presents a problem if the device cannot be recharged (Possibly leading towards needing a factory cable).

To get the Razr to stay shut down: (tl;dr at end)

1. So you first need to force the Razr to shut off. The razr has 3 buttons on this side, power, vol up, vol down. PRESS and HOLD vol DOWN and power. The screen will flash and turn off. Do not let go of the buttons otherwise the phone will start up again.

2. Now continue holding the buttons and press volume up. Let go of the power button. The phone should have a black screen with white text on it now. *If it doesn't, release the volume buttons and wait a few seconds. if the phone doesn't come back on, you're good for now, but usually the phone will come back on*

3. Scroll down to AP Fastboot (vol down, vol down, vol up)

4. Press the power button

At this point, the phone shouldn't boot up again until the power button is pressed. Please be aware that doing this will not fix any issues and only serves to prevent the battery from discharging power (Which is needed to fastboot the phone sometimes before the phone can re-charge itself).

tl;dr: force shut off (vol down+ power), AP Fastboot (vol down+vol up, [menu] vol down, vol down, vol up) , [AP Fastboot menu] power button.

On a side note, for some people it may be possible to plug the phone into the wall and get it to charge. (Make sure that it is charging if you try to do this though)

Thanks. I've had to do this before and it saved my rear end.
