1st off : The original 4-point activation bypass DOES NOT work on the Motorola ICS builds. I have tried the 4-point multiple times in the MotoICS ROMs and have been unsuccessful.

was the person that told me about using a SIM from another carrier because i dont think the 4-point worked for him either. It does however work on AOKP and/or CM9 builds.

Now that that's out of the way...

Does anyone know how to bypass activation for the Motorola ICS builds to get to the home screen? I have been unable to find a work-around for the activation on any of the ICS leaks, .75 ~> .211, other then booting with another carrier's SIM, which isnt always available to me. Again, The original 4-corner press from GB builds DOES NOT work, FYI...

Other ICS ROMs like CM9 and AOKP still utilize the original 4-corner bypass, so i wonder who wanted it removed, Motorola or VZW...There are a few guys that were going to look into this but i thought i would ask forum-wide instead of in someone's current thread. I hope this will get out to more members and someone might know the trick or someone can make a fix to unblock the current bypass.

Thanks in advance!

I put in an AT&T microSIM and spammed the home button as it tried to activate with it (since default is Global mode). It let me bypass it.

Another theory I have is the fact that we can ROOT the phone without activating it at all! With root we can just kill the device-setup process if we wanted too.

To root from lockscreen:
  • Pulldown notification menu, set USB to MTP mode.
  • Pulldown notification menu, hit the gear on the top right. Go to Developer Options>Enable USB Debugging.
  • Root with Option 3 in the 1.7 Droid Razr Utility, Dan Rosenberg's Razr Root for 4.0.4, or

(These are all the same method by the way).
  • You will now have adb shell root access on the phone. From there I am sure we can figure it out. I know that restoring data using boot/safestrap would work if you could get one of those to open.

Best of luck, let me know your results.

Please do not Personal Message me for help or troubleshooting. They will be ignored. Post in threads or start one in Q&A sections.

Believe me, i started doin that right about .203-.204, it all worked fine. I have a problem where i get tired of things rather quickly and like to flash-around a lot. And i kinda like the stock build, a little... its better then Sense anyway...

Plus, i finally was able to get my hands on a ATT micro SIM today, one that i can keep, and not have to bug anyone to take theirs out of their precious ifone for 2 min :)

Yea, I tested my brother's AT&T microSIM, bypassed like a charm. I got some root advice to bypass from P3Droid, but his method led to Force Closes for me on 211.

Well thanx for trying! If we come up with something eventually, i'll edit the 1st post and make the [REQ][How To] an official [How To] :)

After wiping my RAZR completely to test this method, again, THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK, with or without Airplane Mode...

It works for me.. I flashed my phone like 3x today trying to figure out why my data wasn't stable on cricket. Worked for me on cm9 aokp AND 211

The thing is, it isn't exactly the corners you are pressing, imagine having 1 inch margins on top and bottom of screen.

So you would be pressing the W and the edge across from it going down to just above the text from Motorola and back to the edge across that.

Is your RAZR flashed to cricket? If so, that might have something to do with it. I personally feel as though VZW does not want people to be able to use the device if you dont have VZW service.

As i said in my original post, AOKP and CM9 bypass without issue. It is only the Moto-ICS based ROMs, starting at .75 and every ICS build after.

knows his shyt, inside out, upside down, and backwards. If he cant do it, no body can. Not saying that you are not bypassing, just saying that you are not bone-stock VZW flashed ICS. If you flashed cricket or metro or anything other then VZW, you are changing the activation process as well...

hey you probably did this when you tried it again, but did you give it a few minutes to see if it would work... only reason I ask if that i didn't realize there was another post below the first that a huge ad was obscuring, and only after re-visiting the page did I even realize that post was there. If you did, I apologize for having you repeat yourself again... I didn't know if everyone missed that post, or if I'm just an idiot ;)

I noticed this in build.prop. I changed it to false, but I haven't wiped data yet to see if this has any affect.

# BEGIN Moto, IKSTABLETWO-1284, nfjb73
# without this property, the lock screen would take global phone as UMTS
# block user to operate before setup
keyguard.no_require_sim = false
# End Moto
