The House of Moto will put stock recovery back on when it flashes the FXZ, so, just wait for now. Once you're done flashing the FXZ, you can put TWRP back on. If you're really motivated, you can add my universal root script to the HoM and drop your TWRP image in the same dir and when you install root from the HoM it'll prompt you to install TWRP and then walk you through sideloading root.
Haha ill stick with simple as possible. but the root script goes in the folder called "root" of house of moto and TWRP from Tucs Recovery Util V6 goes in the "root" folder as well?
I really hope this works haha

Yup. Make sure to use the latest TWRP for your device. 2.6.3.x if it's available. Just drop it into the root folder after you extract my universal root script and the HoM will add a new option to root. It couldn't be much simpler than that.

I dont know if my phone is setup for ADB sideload mode. TWRP 2.6.0.0 is what i have. I saw 2.6.3.0 but just figured why update if 2.6.0.0 is working fine. Plus the thread for 2.6.3.0 looks like people were having issues

Whatever works. You have enough info now to update and re-root so you should be good to go.

Thank you so much. This is the root script?
What am I going to lose by using House of Moto? Are all my homescreens and everything going to be untouched?

Hello. I am looking for best option I guess. I am running 9.18.79 rooted super su. I see the new update is non rootable and that some have had luck with Voodoo keeping root. Until a root exploit comes out I will wait to take the update. However Before reading up I did perform a factory reset and attempted to take the update. It did not take and failed. I know that if systems files are missing it will fail. I usually am pretty good about freezing and not deleting. I suspect the issue is the boot animation as it was changed and I forgot to restore the stock prior to the reset. Anyway like I said I am not taking the update at this time. But if I am missing some system files should I try and go back to stock anyway to fix this? I read the post about applying the update via sd card to get the error code, but I dont want to run the risk of the update taking losing root and not being able to get it back. I am seeking best option from here. Thank you

Get me a copy of the update.zip and I'll preroot it and make it custom recovery flashable

What someone should do is take a cleanly updated phone with root, dd extract the system partition, and build a new FXZ that uses the rooted system partition in place of the signed one, and replaces stock recovery with twrp. Then unlocked people only have to use that special FXZ with the house of moto in a one step mechanism.Get me a copy of the update.zip and I'll preroot it and make it custom recovery flashable

If you're concerned you can use the house of moto with the 79 FXZ, clean up the phone with the keep data script, reroot with motochopper 1.3, and then you'll be prepared for the ota... Or not. If you're not ready to take it after doing that, freeze the updater.
