So, there was an app on Gingerbread that fully unlocked the HDMI for play of ANYTHING (HBO GO, NFL, NETFLIX, etc) called "XTernal Display" The developer has stopped supporting it but the source code is still available. It was designed for the Droid X but worked on my Bionic and Raxr Maxx on Gingerbread.

Is there a chance that someone can take a look at what he did and replicate that for use on ICS?

If I'm not mistaking the razr has HDMI mirroring.....

Yes, the Razr HAS HDMI mirroring. But, it's locked due to the fact that HBO and Cinemax don't allow the HDMI port to be used. XTernal Display took care of that my bypassing the check that HBO uses.

But is XTERNAL compatible with RAZR? The only version I see is for DROID X...

I was using it when I was on Gingerbread with the Razr and the Bionic.. That's why I am asking for someone to look at the source and figure out what we can do with it.

LOL! Did you read the OP? He said it's only released for the Droid X, but works for Razr on GB :-/

Sarge, I was asking if anyone in the thread might have known of a version that may have been HEX edited or hacked to work on ICS.

I did see a post at RootzWiki for a new apk tool modified to be more compatible with ics. Don't know if that would be helpful, especially seeing the app is open source. Thought I'd mention it though just in case...

There is another option, I have no idea how to do it, but maybe a dev would help develop a safestrap stock GB rom so we could use tools that aren't updated for ICS

Didnt want to start a new thread because this was still open but iv been searching for hours and hours trying to find a work around for ics and hdmi out on apps like hulu and nfl mobile. Nfl season is starting and im not trying to spend $500 to watch a couple out of network games. So if anyone can point me in the right direction would be great. These are the reasons i use android becaue with root i dont see why this isnt possible.

I went to the Market to download this app but it doesn't even give me an option to do it due to it not being compatible with the RAZR. Is there a work around?
