It's honestly surprising people that it's taking this long?? The Moto X JUST got 4.4.2. The 2013 Droids have not yet started pushing it out. I'm not sure why anyone would think that near EOL phones would get the update before the latest and greatest phones. You'll be lucky to see it by end of April IMO. But at least it's coming.

No, just got 4.4.2. We did have 4.4 last year. They needed to fix some things that the 4.4 update did on some devices to battery drainage.

Right, it doesn't make a lot of sense for Moto to push out 4.4 to the HD/M since it has issues. My guess is they're going to push out 4.4.2 but not until after the current devices are updated first.

If it will update us to a KK kernel, that's all we need for development. An EOL send off is what I figured

Just remember that it's going to be the last update. When 4.5 comes out this summer, there is an almost 0 chance of it coming to the HD/M. But 4.4.2 is nothing to sneeze at. Lighter weight on resources, faster in almost every way, better battery life. It's something to look forward to for sure.

I also wouldn't count on root though. I would tread lightly.

Yea, that's a very good point. Those lucky enough to be unlocked, not a problem. Those who are locked and don't manage to save root through the update process (or who later have to FXZ for any reason) may never see a root exploit. The only reason 9.30.1 is rooted is because an exploit for another phone worked. That's not necessarily common.
