Use my script generator to create a keep data xml file for the FXZ or use the House of Moto's built in keep data script so you don't fry the data partition in the process, but, yes.

Thanks for your help.  I used House of Moto's keep data script and I am officially on 9.30.1 WITH all my data.  I did not attempt to keep root, no fun anyway with a locked bootloader...maybe with my next phone

Now I await 4.4 update

Moto X: updated November

2013 Droids: updated December

2012 Droids: update coming January?

If by January you mean April, then yes.  LOL :)  I don't see those updates coming quickly.

FALSE.  One has NOTHING AT ALL to do with the other.  Just being rooted *DOES NOT CAUSE AN UPDATE TO FAIL*.

Hi guys,

So i had my phone rooted with an unlocked bootloader running CM for quite some time. I decided yesterday to go back to stock (factory reset via matts utility). Its been hitting me with an OTA update since then, and i kept hitting install later...install later....

and today i accidentally hit install now. So it tried to do it via CWM recovery, and obviously failed. and when it fails, no matter what i do, it reboots back to the system (which is good), but then immediately tries to run the update again.

Is there any way for me to get this to stop happening? I turned off my phone in case i have to do something via fastboot (save the battery). but can i maybe flash the stock recovery through the utility? would that do it?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, if you put the stock recovery back in and everything is kosher, the update will take, then you can reflash the CWM.  Another method to avoid the update failing is to just grab the most recent FXZ and flash it with the save data option in the House of Moto.  Just be sure to read the directions fully before starting.
