Hope fully someone can help me, i feel semi retarded at the moment. My phones power button stopped working a few days ago, so i figured i would try my hand at remapping the volume up rocker to function as the power button. I was editing the file omap-4.kl found in /system/usr/keylayout/

changed key 115 VOLUME_UP to read 115 POWER             WAKE

saved the file, pretty sure i unmounted it so that it would be read only again and then used an app to reboot.

didn't work, so i figured i would try to clean the delvic cache on the rom slot.

used the same app to reboot, this time tried to enter safestrap after the m logo (ver3.11)

screen went black, back light was on for a while, and i had to go to school.

pretty sure that the battery is dead, phone doesnt respond to attemps to charge, and doesnt show up on my laptop.

running a blurry rom, ss3.11

 any help would be appreciated

Did you make the key mapping edits on the ROM ... or on stock..... ?

Typically edits like that need to be done on stock for them to work properly..... anyway.... I guess the main concern now is getting you back up and running..... even tho it does not appear to react when plugged into a wall charger, it may still be charging (hopefully) .... the maim problem will obviously be your faulty power button...

How does the power button "feel" ... does it feel physically broken ? ("Squishy" or loose).... if so you may be looking at disassembly to fix it

Alright, thanks for the insight on trying the edit on stock. Really Appreciate your help.
As to the power button, it's definitely loose/wiggly.
Not to afraid to disassemble to get it back working.
Plugged phone into wall a few minutes ago. Seems like the screen backlight is on.
Any advice as to a disassembly guide? I've done a fast boot before, so, if I get the power button fixed, I should be able to just fast boot to stock, right?

hopefully (for your sake) you have the proper tools to disassemble the phone :):) ..... it'll make your life WAY easier, and less chance of breaking it further..... :).... if you are unsure about anything please feel free to ask, prior to doing something that may damage your phone :)
