Bootstrap v3.11 issues

Best Answer mrlolli , 08 December 2013 - 07:10 AM

you are gonna want to download safestrap 3.65 instead, i am not sure anything plays nice with 3.11 anymore. just uninstall what you have, then download ss 3.65 apk, run it, then hit the install recovery button. once that is done, reboot and you should have the option to switch over to the safe side where you can go nuts! just leave the stock side alone after that :)

Hi all,

I've rooted my XT912 and downloaded Bootstrap v3.11 from here:

I installed it, but when I reboot, I do not see the Bootstrap menu.  I had a bit of a brain fart in that I tried to install it before rooting the device (tired...long, long day at work).  After realizing that, I uninstalled it using the app manager, rooted the device, and then installed the app.  I rebooted, but again, no Bootstrap menu.  I'm wondering if there is some extra step I need to perform to completely bag the pre-root install or something.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm looking to install the Blurry mod.

Thanks,

dave

I am pretty sure most ROMs will be fine with safestrap v3.11.

Very true bud...very true...I stuck with 3.11 only because it seemed like ss was getting updated every other week for awhile there LOL! :)

Thanks, guys.  When I first tried following the steps to install Blurry (which specified 3.11), I thought the latest and greatest version of SS was the way to go as the original post was a couple months old.  I didn't seem to have any luck with 3.65 (I could install it and get into SS after reboot but couldn't seem to get the Blurry ROM to load).  I saw several posts that vehemently said USE 3.11 LIKE THE DIRECTIONS SAID, so I got fearful that I was, as I tell my kids, "not being a good listener"  :)  I'll give 3.65 a shot and report back my findings.

Since we're on the topic, do you all have any ROMs that you prefer over Blurry?  I'm obviously brand new to this, thus I'm open to suggestion.

Thanks for all your responses.  What a great forum!

After loading up and getting into ss, you are switching over to the safe side and building a slot, right? Please make sure you are doing that! :)

As far as rom preference, there are quite a few awesome roms, and hashcode was kind enough to make it so you can build 4 1 gig slots and try out 4 roms at a time, so take advantage of that and see what you like best. Certain, roms will only work on a specific slot, though, so just see if there is a note about that in the OP before you try installing it. Good luck, and have fun playing with all of the different roms, i know i have :)

Blurry is an awesome ROM made by an awesome dev... I build BloodRage which I obviously recommend... so really its a matter of preference...try em all and choose what you prefer...the nice thing about safestrap is the ability to have more than one ROM loaded at a time. :) Happy flashing!!

Well, I'm embarrassed to admit it, but the big step missed was to actually INSTALL RECOVERY after installing SafeStrap.  I now have Blurry up and running, so thank you all!  Also, thanks for not ridiculing me for saying "Bootstrap".  I work with PeopleSoft, and bootstrap mode is a PeopleSoft thing.  I gotta stop doing this stuff at the end of the day when I'm mentally spent  :)

Again, kudos to you all, and to a great forum.  Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday season.

Cheers,

Dave
