Initially, industry insiders were surprised over Verizon's peaceful reaction to AT&T securing HTC's most potential smartphone, One X contract.
Just why the big red network didn't put up much of a fight was unknown, until now. Verizon has expressed a deep interest in the upcoming high-end phablet by the Taiwanese firm.
In April, BGR report disclosed HTC's plan to manufacture a Samsung Galaxy Note competitor on the Verizon Wireless network, which would feature a 5-inch display with 1080p HD resolution -- a non-Pentile variant, while a quad-core Krait processor and an Adreno 320 GPU will power it.
Now, reports have popped up in the tech media world through a series of new GLBenchmark tests revealing fresh details on the same device again.
According to this benchmark test, the device features the codename "dlx" and model number HTC6435, which makes it a likely follow-up to HTC's Rezound smartphone, known as HTC6425. The handset's processor is clocked at 1.5GHz, although it won't be running a normal Snapdragon S4 chipset and is instead likely to be equipped with a supercharged MSM8960T chipset, which features an Adreno 320 GPU.
Moreover, the smartphone's benchmark scores are also higher than ever seen before, reaching 121.1 frames-per-second on Egypt Offscreen and 110.5 frames-per-second on Egypt Pro; in comparison, HTC's One X topped out at 64.8 FPS and 94.8 FPS, respectively.
Further the reports indicate that the upcoming smartphone will also have a 5-inch 1080p display with a resolution of 1794 x 1080 pixels and a Scribe pen. Along with the new processor and mega-display, the phone will be running on Android 4.0.4 and will connect to Verizon's 4G LTE network. Past reports from BGR suggested that the upcoming HTC handset is a part of Verizon's fall 2012 smartphone lineup.
