Droid Maxx, thought I was deleting a video, but ended up deleting all my pictures.

Tried several downloads to see if I could recover my pictures.

None of them work, most don't even recognize my device.

The latest was Recuva.

My pc (Windows 8.1) shows all my disk drives and a device XT1080 (my phone),

but Recuva does not give me the option to scan this.

Tenoshare Andriod Data Recovery does not even recognize my phone when I attach it via USB.

No luck with other 'recovery' software packages.

How can I get Recuva or any other package to recognize my phone?

We've seen others in this situation before. I don't believe they ever found a fix. As you said the recovery software won't recognize the phone as it is not a drive letter. I never saw a fix on the thread for the other guy. Sorry man. Maybe someone else can chime in if they have any other ideas.

Did you try any of the utilities in the Play store?

Therein lies the problem...... When "they" did away with UMS (mass storage).... We have pretty much lost most all "data recovery" methods as well..... Due to it not being mounted as a drive.... :(

I even copied the contents of XT1080 to a USB drive. Used Recuva to scan that USB drive for pictures, but did not find my missing pictures.

Copying by itself will not do it.... To do it that way you would need to make an image of it (a 1:1 copy of all sectors, used and unused ) ..... Not even sure how you could do that tho without it being mounted as a "drive" via (UMS, mass storage)

Confused by the phones. I have a Motorola DROID RAZR Maxx. Then there is the DROID Maxx?

Anyway.... Does phone have SD card? My pictures default to SD card, so I use a card reader and Recuva for this...

Disappointed and hurt. Not surprised.

Yes, the droid maxx is one of the "new breed" of the droid lineup :)....

And since Google / Android / phone manufacturers ... Whoever, did away with UMS support, (and micro SD card, Iin some devices) .... Data recovery has become increasingly difficult...:(
