Like the title says, I am having a problem with my Razr that's persisted for several months now. Whenever I take or place a call, the screen immediately turns off and I have no way of turning it back on. Only after the call ends (by the other person hanging up) can I turn the screen back on. For some reason, plugging in headphones will also turn the screen back on, but if i unplug them the screen immediately turns off once more. I've been searching around on the internet and it seems a number of other people have had this problem too, but I could not find any information that helps.

Rarely, I have the oppisite problem: the screen stays on and will not turn off during a call.

I don't think its malfunction with the daylight sensor as I downloaded an app that tests the phone's sensors and found that the daylight sensor detects light just fine.

This is a very annoying problem as I cannot make any call that requires dialpad input, such as checking my voicemail.

Things that do not turn the screen back on:

~Pushing the power button, or the volume buttons

~Pulling the phone away from my face

~Putting the phone's daylight sensor in bright light

~Removing the screen protector (my screen protector has a notch around the daylight sensor anyway, so its a moot point)

~Disabling all apps running in the background prior to the call

~Attempting a phonecall after a soft reset

Things that DO turn the screen back on:

~Plugging in headphones into the audio jack during the call (I have no idea why this works)

~Waiting for the other person to hang up

Things I have not yet tried yet:

~Factory reset (I've read on other forums that this hasn't helped others and since its a big hassle redownloading apps and saving photos, ect, i haven't yet tried)

Any help would be appreciated.

I would guess something is either wrong with the light sensor or the settings associated with it. If factory reset does not work I would consider replacing the unit.

I had this problem when I got jb.  Verizon said they saw that problem a lot, they could try to trouble shoot but it would be much cleaner to send me a replacement.  Fixed the problem with the replacement.
