So this battle is currently ongoing, but I wanted to vent.

Long story short - I have an OG Droid just sitting in a drawer.  A few days back, I see on VZW's site the Trade-In/Trade-Up program, minimum $100 for any smartphone with 2 year activation.  Over a few different chat sessions, I verified that even though my OG isn't active on the account, it IS eligible for the $100 gift card as long as it's in good working condition (which it is).

Cut to today, go into VZW, they say, no, can't do it, must be active on your account for at least 6 months.

I called BS and asked them to provide some T&C stating as much, they couldn't do it, saying 'that's just how it is'.

I took to FB to vent and now am getting a partially different story, that it's really an 'Early Edge' program and it must be your current phone to qualify.  Again I called BS, pointing to the infographic on their main site and trade-in site that states no such thing.  Even pointing out that the same infographic mentions free activation, which is only available for new lines of service, which means you wouldn't have a currently active phone to upgrade from, except from another carrier, in which case it could be any phone.

The saga continues... anyone that might happen to actually work for VZW here that wants to chime in with some T&C, I'd love it.

Not only that, but when you go to the webpage that is supposed to tell you how much your phone is worth, I entered in my OG Razr Maxx and they said $40.... How is that a minimum of $100.

So vzw on Facebook said my phone does qualify and the first associate was incorrect. I went back to the store tonight and now have a Note 3 in my hands. They were even kind enough to apply the gift card to my purchase instead of having me call customer service to do it.

Regardless of what the appraisal says online, any phone that comes in at under $100 gets $100 at the end of the process according the guy I talked to in store.
