Droid Razr XT912, 4.1.2 VZW ---> (Edit: System Version 98.72.165.XT912.Verizon.en.US)

I have a Mac. All drivers are there and both Motorola apps are on my computer and installed.
I've tried at least 3 utilities to try to root my Razr and I have gotten no luck (That includes cydia impactor(which told me that rooting was not possible), droid razr root utility, and another few I can't remember at the moment, regardless they all failed). Connected as media device, check, SmartActions data cleared, check, debugging on, check. With droidrazrroot, and razrblade I believe, the Terminal always hits phase 3, I get a line that says something like this
"failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied
failed for /data/logger, File exists"
Or
"Mount failed" "remount failed"
Everything else seems to do fine on Terminal, my phone reboots every time as Terminal says it will, I copied and pasted what the OP of the Jellybean Root for Mac said to put into the Terminal... Does mine have some sort of patch making it impossible? The fact that I have a Mac doesn't make anything easier either.

And I've been at this for at least 20-30 minutes now and have gotten no luck whatsoever.

You can send this thread to the right place if needed, I'm 100% new and just wanted to try to root my Razr, considering I want to try it out, get used to it, and whatnot since I plan to get a new phone in the near future which I would also like to root.

First question - are you on the most recent update? as in, what system version are you on?  (not android version 4.1.2)

Considering this phone is one obtained a few months ago (a temp phone really), I would assume it's on the most updated version possible.

EDIT: 98.72.165.XT912.Verizon.en.US

You can (if you choose) use Matt's utility and "roll back" from the latest update then try the razrblade exploit again..... if that does not work let us know... we may have another root method to try...:):)

Probably a dumb question but... Can you link me to a Mac version?

Which option are you running.... option 1 needs to be in AP Fastboot mode..... the root method must be booted normally

Cool.... so power off the phone (unplug it first)..... then hold vol down and vol up and power.... when the menu comes up hit vol down to highlight fastboot then vol up to select it..... then close everything on the 'puter.... open the utility..... plug phone in by USB (on a 2.0 USB port only) .... select option 1 from the utility menu....

If something should go wrong (flash failures, errors, etc.... coy and paste the entire command window here... then we can explore other options......

Also...... it will take a few min to complete so don't freak out if it appears "stalled" some of the files are pretty big and will take a while...
