thankmelater, yes, run the apk, then install the recovery (if you had SS installed b4, delete the old recovery, & install the 211 recovery.)

Then, just be sure to back up your stock side, & then enable the safe side.

If you had bootstrap recovery installed previously, be sure to remove all tracese of it; or you will brick your phone.

Search in the forums for instructions to remove bootstrap, if you had it installed!

Enjoy, the two regoveries are very similar in terms of menus & functionality - but SS is better!

Good luck! SpyderMan

So I am on safe strap 2.0. I toggle to non-safe side, Uninstall recovery through the application, uninstall safe strap application, install 2.11 application, install recovery...profit????

Install the same way you installed 2.0 (download file and click to install). It will overwrite the old version. Once it's installed, click "install recovery" from the Safestrap app and you're good to go.

I'd really like to know the answer to this also.

i'm using SS 2.0.
I have stock system on my UNSAFE side
I have non-kexcec DualCore rom installed on my SAFE side.

Do I install 2.11 from the safe or unsafe side?

I think the answer is you can upgrade from 2.0 to 2.11 by simply installing the apk on the SAFE side where you have a non-kexcec rom installed.

But....

The OP update says "Can be installed from either the Safe or NonSafe side over 2.10 if you are using any

BUT Kexec!". He says it's ok going from 2.10 to 2.11. He didn't mention it's ok going from 2.00 to 2.11.

Here's what I did:

> Toggle back to unsafe side
> open safe strap application and uninstall/remove safe strap from the application
> Delete the safe strap application from application management
> install safe strap 2.11.apk
> open application and install
> profit

As always make backups and be smart

This is correct.

Look, safestrap told us if you ever intend to use any Kexec rom in the future (and who knows, there may be 1, there may be 50) to install safestrap 2.11 on the nonsafe side so it carries over to your safe ROMs seamlessly.

Now,meith all due respect, there is NO REASON OTHER THAN LAZINESS NOT to follow this procedure.

1. Download safestrap 2.11 and put it in your sd card
2. Toggle to nonsafe system
3. Install safestrap 2.11
4. Toggle back to nonsafe side/rom of preference.

Yes, 2.11 CAN be installed on your safe side BUT if you EVER want to utilize all of its abilities then it needs to be installed on your nonsafe side.

Seriously, I've seen it in many threads and I don't see why this Is such a huge issue (thisis directe to no one person) but really, how lazy are we that we can't take the extra five minutes put to install Safestrap properly? Is it because Hashcode gave you the ability to do it the easy/lazy way? I'm sorry to those who just don't get it, but honestly, if you're concerned with having safestrap up to date, the ONLY reaon to be on SS 2.11 is for Kexec support and it will NEVER function properly. You don't follow the prescribed installation instructions.

/rant

It's your phones peope, cut corners where you want, if it doesn't work , now you know wher to not one drying to.

The longest part of the whole process is making the backup and switching systems. Those are not even that long. Microwave some dinner while its going on

Best to take the extra steps and be safe than having to make another thread for problems.

+1
Perfect! Just what we needed. Someone to not tiptoe around feelings and be very specific and neccsarily redundant. Better to say it several ways to get the pont across...especially when dealing with the recovery system.
Many thanks!

I did an initial install on the safe side over the old version and it all seemed to work until i toggled to non safe mode. The new SS splash screen was there but it read version 2.0, so I installed on the stock rooted side as well. Now reads SS 2.11.
